What a generous gift to FPN. I just downloaded and can hardly wait to start filling fields and watching my pen collection take new shape. Thank you so much Jon.

Jon,

I'm using your database and like it very much. I have one idea/problem: I have some pen/pencil sets that were purchased together. I'd like to be able to "link" the record for the pen and the pencil so that I could report on sets, for example. Have you considered this, or can it already be done and I just haven't figured it out?

I've been using this database for a few months on my work computer (can't use it at home; no Linux version available :crybaby: ), and it seems to work well.

But it appears that my copy is broken...in "list view," the number at the bottom right-hand corner keeps increasing! :ltcapd:

That's an interesting idea. You might have to add that information in notes, for now. A newer version that I'm planning to release one of these days has a separate section for mechanical pencils.

Mike,

My copy has the same bug.

This is awesome!! I'm just a brand new user/collector, but I'm sure that I'll be getting a lot of use out of the database... I love to organize things and have records of my things.

Thanks!

Perhaps I've not done things correctly, but I just put a picture of my pen/pencil set along with the other pictures on that page and then gave information about the pencil in the notes area. Seems to work for me.

That approach should work for a lot of people. I tried to make the database flexible enough to add other kinds of information without making it overly complex to use.

Thank you for doing this for us. Since I am just returning to FPs after some 30 years, I only had one pen when I joined FPN. Now, however, after contracting "the" virus, that's no longer the case, but wanted to keep an inventory and notes for pens that take up residence here. Until you offered the database, my system consisted of binder and paper. Hated it, so I really appreciate your database.

I would like to add my thanks.

I am new to this site and currently only have a couple of pens so I don't know what many of the terms mean. As another poster mentioned the "User's Guide" is currently blank. Would you or someone else be willing to post a filled out sample page for the pen and ink inventories so newbies like myself can get a better understanding on the types of information to put in the fields.

Again Thank you for this wonderful application.

I'm fairly new here and I just recently discovered this wonderful database tool. I spent a couple of hours this morning downloading the software and then loading in all the data for my pen collection.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
