Sample

Seems not as wet as I expect but it's not dry at all.

Comparison

A nice replacement for Diamine Pansy, which stains and fades in a terrible way.

Thanks for posting this. I like purple ink, there just aren't too many places I can use it.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Nice. How does it compare to the Sweet Potato Purple, I wonder. (Sweet Purple Potato??)

Like what?

From the top of my head..

Callifolio Violet, Diamine Pansy, PR Plum, Noodlers Lermontov, either Levenger Amethyst or Regal (can’t remember which one is redder), Montblanc Violet.. I am sure there are more.

Not to say they are identical.. but for my purple needs they are similar in hue. Again, from the top of my head.. when I get home (I am in the office right now) I can get my swatches out and confirm the closest to Amant I have.

Thank you for the review and as always for those very helpful swatches in the comparison section! I love purple inks but not this shade of purple, which I can't seem to connect with for some reason.

Great, I've always wanted to try Levenger Amethyst and now there's another excuse to! And I should hunt down some Callifolio as well.

Couldn't find my Callifolio Violet swatch.. :( ... I might have to make another one. Both Levengers were too blue to be a good match, the Lermontov was a bit light.. but I found KWZI #18 to be an excellent match.

Please keep in mind ... I do not have L'Amant and I am comparing against a screen image. :)

BTW.. they all have lovely sheen... just not clearly visible on a Mnemosyne card.

I love this color and the sheen is pretty awesome. But I also have a number of purples that are similar. Looking at the various scans, it seems that Diamine Pansy is fairly similar, and I have that but haven't ever gotten around to trying it for some reason.

Thanks for the review.

I wonder if L'amant is similar to Diamine Majestic Purple? From the written sample, it appears rather close.

Diamine Pansy is darker than DMP. I also have Mont Blanc Lavender Purple, but that is much darker and more a subdued red-violet.

This ink looks pretty, but for the price and since I have so many purples in a similar range I wonder if it is really worth it...

Exactly my thoughts toward Diamine Majestic Purple.

Diamine Majestic Purple is a lovely ink! It sheens a little depending on paper/nib/pen. But I'll admit it is not really a sheen "monster" ;)

Still, it is really a beautiful purple imo! :)

Indeed its lovely, really like it, but somehow I found myself to use Imperial Purple more than Majestic Purple. Yes, neither are "sheen monster". But as I yesterday checked my swabs, it looked like L'amant in the comparisons, except the extensive sheen. Maybe will fill up a pen with it. :)

Nice! Because we were talking of it, yesterday I just filled my Metropolitan with Majestic Purple. I love that it has an underlining pink tone to it. Great for painting watercolor flowers! ;)

Boosting this one back up to see if anyone has a side by side of the Majestic purple with this Sailor one.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
