Blackstone Ink - Breaking News

Recommended Posts

Just received the newsletter from Kevin Watson at Justwrite (makers of Blackstone Inks):

Coming soon... Australian made Blackstone Fountain Pen Inks. This is a sneak preview of the packaging that will be available. All plastic bottles are reusable and recyclable HDPE (High density polyethylene - the toughest plastic available). The first release will be the Colours of Australia series featuring Sydney Harbour Blue, Barrier Reef Blue, Black Stump Black, Uluru Red and Daintree Green.

Couldn't manage to paste the included picture but the accompanying text should excite some of you inkophiles:

Front row left to right: 5ml concentrate syringe (makes 60ml), 30ml, 60 ml translucent, 60ml amber, 30ml amber, 15ml amber.

Back row left to right: 1L plastic jerry can, 1L bottle, 500ml bottle, 250ml twin chamber bottle (fill directly from chamber).

1L is one litre! That's about 33 ounces for you imperial folks. That's a staggering quantity of ink. If the other colours are as good as the blue then we are going to have another interesting high quality ink maker to talk about.

Can't wait....

Wow, that uluru...!

Actually, they're all very nice colors.

Will be curious to see reviews. Better be good if you go buy a liter bottle!

I would love to get my hands on that green! My favorite tea comes from Daintree Forest too. And selling the concentrated ink, does anyone else do that? Very clevah.

When will it be available, when??

They are wonderful.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Colors are VERY nice BUT I am excited as I have NEVER seen ink offered in a "jerry can" size before! That amount of ink has been & may still be sold BUT never in a container described as a JERRY CAN!

......................I envision "departing on a journey in ye Range Rover with jerry can of ink strapped inside!"

(Bruce Chatwin could have traded in his brown "Asprey" ink for a most serviceable size Blackstone while working in the outback)

BLACK STUMP - both strengths

That blue isn't too shabby either. :)

The list grows ever longer . . . :(

To get 16%, will we have to buy the concentrate and dilute?

I will definitely be getting the concentrated form when the inks become available.

fountainpagan, Kevin already ships his products overseas. If you just get the concentrate inks, the postage should be minimal too, as you won't be paying for all the water or the glass bottles most inks come in.

I can't wait for the line to be available!

I agree!!!

Will they be available for europeans, too?

That's the idea of the concentrate in the syringes, so Justwrite can send the ink overseas and save money.

The idea is, you buy the syringe, get so enamoured that you then buy one of each in the 1 litre jerry cans...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
