Ditto on reviews. You have named some of my favorites, but they are each miserable to clean.

 

I love Dromgoole's Blue Steel (Noodler's) for ease of cleaning.

 

Noodler's eel red for removing stains.

 

Noodler's Purple and Blue Eel and Blue for super saturated but easy to clean.

 

I have always longed to try Blue Steel...does anyone sell samples?

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!
 

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I like the idea of having more than one fountain pen. It sounds like a very pleasing solution.

(Who am I kidding ? I like the idea of having more than 100 fountain pens.) :lticaptd:

So, which pen(s) do you prefer ? I'll wager there are pens that can be had in quantity for

your general, colorful use.

I seem to recall that the pen bodies of Preppies are PMMA. I just checked, and the barrel of the preppy in front of me is alcohol-safe. The collector and feed might not be, but I hadn't heard that they were not before.

 

I will note that, while you might find the color dull, Noodler's La Couleur Royale is amazingly easy to clean out, right up there with Waterman Blue and Montblanc Royal Blue (neither of which I listed before because they are neither vibrant nor saturated). La Couleur Royale is highly saturated but not vibrant at all.

 

 

I would say waterman and montblanc have the easiest inks to flush out, at least from what I have experienced.

 

 

My easiest to clean inks include OMAS sepia, Pelikan Blue/Black (NA in NA), MB Royal Blue, Waterman Florida & Mysterious Blue.

 

Regarding the Preppies and using rubbing alcohol, when I used it once on a Preppy the plastic turned dullish white inside the section, but otherwise the pen still works.

 

I had Waterman Serenity Blue, and that ink was amazing in that it cleaned out very easily and looked good on even the cheapest paper, but it didn't have any water resistance at all and I didn't like the color. I've since tried out Mysterious Blue and Harmonious Green, but none have really grabbed my attention.

 

The Corn Poppy Red looks great, I think I might check that one out. Le Couleur Royale has me intrigued, might get a sample of it.

Ah. OK. That might mean that the gray plastic "collector" isn't alcohol safe.

If you ever call Dromgoole's you will be thrilled.

Omas Blue is a relatively saturated ink and one of the easiest inks to clean out of a pen. But for me, the easiest-to-clean has always been Pelikan 4001 Black.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Do you flush with the red, as you would with water or solvent?

Why are there fourteen samples of dark plum ink on my desk? Because I still haven't found the right shade.

Update: Great. Finally found one I love (Lamy Dark Lilac) but I can't get more. Ah, life in my inky world....

No, I do a regular flush with water and then I refill with eel red and doodle until it's empty then clean as usual.

If you are coming to the SF Pen Show, we will have Dromgoole's Blue Steel at the ink sampling station. Plus a few of their other exclusive inks.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
