In the year of OMAS 90th Anniversary the charming series of Vintage Limited Edition, inaugurated in 2011, is now enriched by one more version of the most classic OMAS model: the Ogiva Burkina.

Created in 1927 and named Ogiva in 1950, this historical model is characterized even today by the smooth design and by the harmony of its rounded shape, which ensure comfortable writing...!

This Limited Edition is entirely handcrafted in celluloid and comes in the Burkina colour, used for the first time in this design!!!

The three rings on the cap and the three rings on the nib-holder, finished with rhodium plating, perfectly match the bright tones of the celluloid.

The black onyx wheel embellishes the clip, made in its traditional Ogiva model shape.

  • 1 month later...

When I first started viewing this site, probably 6 months before becoming a member, I saw a review of an Omas in the Burkina finish & to this day it has remained the most fascinating finish of ANY pen I have seen. Two years later I am happy to say I received this pen from Marco. I ordered after seeing this post & only Friday (26 June) he shipped it to me. It was delivered today & I am happy to say it EXCEEDS any expectation I had hoped for! The packaging was of course lovely, the pen more stunning "in person" (I had never seen one in person!) & the stub nib is what I have wanted whenever ordering one. I have four other Omas pens & they are all "juicy/wet" writers BUT in combination with the stub nib this is just perfection. I inked it up with Stipula's Verde Muschiato & I swear it danced it's way across the Rhodia pad!

I cannot say how happy I am to have received this pen & am equally excited it was possible to purchase it from Marco. To have received it in 3 days from Rome seems impossible BUT I expect if anyone can make something possible it is Marco! I apologise I am not competent to photograph this pen & offer a writing sample of thanks to Novelli Pen & Pipe but perhaps my thanks would exceed the allowed download possible.

I received mine yesterday- stub nib. Have not had time to do anything but ink it, and scribble a couple lines so far, but in love already. This pen (and Marco) == Highly recommended.

In love since the first time I've seen it.

Anyone knows what other models where made in the Burkina color?

Current modern daily users: Montegrappa Miya, Omas AM87, S.T.Dupont D-Line, Stipula Etruria Tuscany Dreams, Tibaldi Modello 60.

Current vintage daily users: Aurora 98p, Big Red Lucky Curve, MB622, P51, P75, Pelikan NN400.

Well, there's a Paragon:

Two Bolognas (notice the different sections, and the cap rings that are visible as reflections):

And a 360:

If anyone's aware of any others, I hope they'll let us know.

I found mine! Pens in Burkina to my knowledge, in addition to the Ogiva 90th anniversary in the OP:

1. 360

2. Omas Bologna (Chatterley Luxury also used to have a version with no metal section I believe exclusive of his shop)

3. Burkina Paragon 80th Anniversary issued with a pencil (80 pieces, greek band)

4. Burkina round shape (but not Ogiva) issued with a roller in very limited run in 2009 (with three bands)

5. Burkina Paragon in either ruthenium (20 pieces) or gold (80 pieces) finishes issued around 2012 (I believe for American market)

6. Burkina Paragon with three bands (not Greek) allegedly produced for Rebecca Moss in 130 pieces. It recently resurfaced in an Italian shop, but it is gone.

Thanks, katanankes, for the list! The pictures I posted above would be your nos. 5, both 2s, and 1. Does that seem right?

Yes, perfect.

The pic of the "Rebecca Moss" model can be found here: http://www.stilografica.it/omas/penne-omas/omas-rebecca-moss-burkina-3691.htm

Since the product is out of stock, I believe I can post the link without breaking any rule (the site does not allow to link the pics).

However I do not understand the reference to Rebecca Moss. Omas did produce a number of special editions for the now closed New York store. However they all would bear the name Rebecca Moss on the ring. Maybe these were part of a batch of pens that were produced but eventually not shipped as the store closed and then resurfaced a bit later.

Ok, so here's a pic of your no. 6:

But who is / was Rebecca Moss?

And nibs.com sold a Burkina Paragon LE (80 pieces total), but no mention on their site of a pencil:

Might this be a no. 7 to append to the list above?

Rebecca Moss was a "specialty design gift" store in New York city that commissioned a number of limited editions to Omas, Visconti and other pen companies. Time to time they resurface on ebay.

The picture from Nibs.com is consistent with my number 5: this version was released for the North American market in 80 pieces.

The version sold in combination with the pencil was exclusive of the Italian market and virtually identical. But it came out with a 80 anniversary nib (the 80 anniversary of the Paragon model launched in 1932, not of the company). I found an old thread depicting the combo:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/203738-very-interesting-new-editions-by-omas/

I personally own both 3 and 4. Unfortunately my collection is stored in another city (actually Continent... sigh...), so I cannot post original pictures! I wish I had the Bologna without the metal section...

Thanks for the additional info, and apologies to the OP if he feels we are hijacking the thread. Might it be worthwhile to start a new thread cataloguing the Burkina models (i.e. move what we've been doing here to its own thread)? If so, I'd be happy to migrate the things we've added above.

I agree that this is useful reference material. I am also ready for a thread on a catalog of Omas Wild Celluloid pens...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
