I tried to get the sheen, with only moderate success:

Thank you for a great review of a great ink! I get the best sheen out of the Kobe 14 in a vintage flex nib where the sheen takes over the page.

It's one of my favourite Kobe inks

+1 Me too :)

Thanks for the nice review. This color is right up my alley. Judging by its name alone, I have to love it!

I really like that one. Looks like it might be similar to Kobe Island Blue, which I love, but maybe it is a bit more purple tone.

I totally agree. I goofed and sent my sample off with a pen to be renibbed. :wallbash:

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That is a really nice blue ink. Cool-Japan makes all these inks available to those of us who don't live in Japan.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Thank you you Frank, for letting me try yours. I immediately ordered a bottle.

  • 1 year later...

A little late for me to add to the thread but, on the strength of the above nice review, I managed to find a botte at the ITOYA stationery shop on the Ginza in Tokyo during a recent business trip. It is a very nice, deep and happy blue- the nearest thing to my all-time favourite blue ink, the Iroshizuku "Asa Gao" (Morning Glory).

Happily I now see that this ink can be bought on Ebay (but at a price!)

Quad, did you have a good trip and what else did you acquire?

Oh my! That's pretty! Thanks for this review of a not-so-well known ink!

It's now definitely on my wish list!

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
