Lamy Copper Orange - A Brief Review

Recommended Posts

My new Lamy Al-Star Copper Orange is awesome. I've owned two Safaris and never really liked the plastic feel of them. This is my first Al-Star and it's great. The ink's not bad too - still not quite as good as Cult Pens Deep Dark Orange, which is my all-time favourite orange, but this is a close second.

Also, I have a new scanner. I think it's a bit sharper than the last one.

I really need to get this ink; ist it available in cartridge only?

Many thanks for your review.

Cheers

Michael

Sadly yes, let's hope Lamy cotton on and bottle it in the future.

Mr. Goulet said they are going to receive this ink in bottles.

That's great news, since I hate cartridges, but I really like the look of this ink.

True. At least Lamy cartridges are a decent size though.

It's both cartridges and T52 bottles for US market...UK will only get cartridges

That's (bleep). Can they be ordered from Germany?

I understand from a pen seller in the Netherlands that copperorange in bottles will only be available in the "export market," meaning... anywhere outside Europe. :o

Ah man. I have no idea why Lamy would do this. Admittedly, I've only owned a couple of Safaris before and am not as familiar with the brand as I am with, say, Parker or Pelikan but this is a bit rubbish.

Do Lamy carts fit any other pen make?

I believe Lamy carts fit Parkers (something I've not tried myself), and thus probably Auroras too.

You can of course also syringe the ink out of the cartridge and inject it into something else

No they do not.

There's anecdotal evidence on here of people using Parker converters in Lamys, and Lamy cartridges in Parker pens. As I said before though, not something I've tried myself.

no body likes the Neon Coral huh... that came out in a bottle as well

I adore the Neon Coral! Bought 50 carts before I knew a bottle would be available in the US, then bought one of those as well. :)

I have some Copper Orange cartridges on their way, but am not sure yet whether I'll get a bottle. I, too, think that Cult Pens Deep Dark Orange is really the ink to beat in this corner of the spectrum.

Was like this with the Neon Coral, only available in bottles outside Europe. It's strange why they do this.

I bought my bottle of neon coral in Europe.
