Replacement Converter For Jinhao

Maurizio

Recommended Posts

I imagine this has been discussed before but I couldn't find the answer. So thanks for indulging me.

Will a "standard international converter" such as a Schmidt fit a Jinhao 750? Are there any others which will fit?

I believe that the Jinhao's will take standard internationals. They also take standard cartridges so those are also an option.

These will most certainly fit, they will also fit at least 95% of other pens that take standard international cartridges/converters

Actually, there are quite some pens that don't get a good fill with this Jinhao converter. The Jinhao pens tend to have a quite short cartridge/converter nipple, so these fit fine. If the pen has a longer one, the plunger will be not be able to go all the way down. The standard international ones, such as those made by Schmidt and Waterman, have a much larger area between the mount of the converter and longest length of the plunger.

The Jinhao takes International Standard cartridges and converters. At least, that is stated. The converters

that I bought via Ebay, from a China seller fit several Chinese-made pens, and my Bexley, just fine.

(10 for $8)

However, they were too tight for my Pelikano, and Montblanc. I suspect "batch" variation.

I have never used the Schmidt converter.

You loose a few drop anyway since the piston doesn't go all the way down because of the agitator ball. But then even converters without balls don't fill up all the way so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have just checked fitting the Pelikan , Schmidt and Waterman converters in my Jinhao 159. Only the Waterman converter fits. The other two don't.

yes waterman long cartridges will fit jinhaos .

Was talking about the replacement converters and not cartridges. But yes waterman cartridges will also fit jinhao pens.

The 159 has a different converter than any of my other Jinhaos though, shorter and fatter.

I mean, the thing we're skipping here is that there isn't just one Jinhao converter; there are at least three, and possibly more. The converters in the T1/599 class are different from the clear, generic looking ones that came with my 250s, which are in turn different from the fatter one in the 159.

They all seem to be international standard and should fit most pens, but YMMV.

Agreed. But , as I said , the schmidt and Pelikan converters do not fit in Jinhao 159. This much I am sure because I practically tried fitting Pelikan and schmidt converters , ealier in the day , and these did not fit. Only Waterman converter did fit in Jinhao 159.

Rudeness? Not intended at all. Even then I am sorry. Really sorry for having hurt you even if unintentionally.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
