A tie, both Pelikans: a tortoise M400NN from Swisher (I miss Swisher) & a Katie Hill Memorial Binderized M150 from the Pentrace fundraiser. [Katie Hill was a pen afficianado who sadly was killed walked back to her hotel after the DC Pen Show. Pentrace put together a limited buy in her honor.]

Probably my Montblanc pens: Two 149s and a Thomas Mann. Although a few of my Pelicans are not far behind in price.

There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man

that he does not know until he takes up his pen to write.

Well, I've just purchased my second most expensive pen ever. Technically, if you count shipping, it is the most expensive. Like #1, it's a Pelikan, a green striated 400, only this one is from the 1950s (the feed certainly looks right, from what I've read). It's got an OB nib, which looks to be fun to play with.

Of course I have to wait several weeks for it to arrive from Germany.... :gaah:

My Conway Stewart Marlborough. It was painful to 'pull the trigger' on that one, and I had to sell a beautiful pen

to make up for it. But now I don't regret it one bit!

Well, I have broken the $100 ceiling with a MassDrop Makrolon Lamy 2000 for just a few dollars more. Never owned a gold nib before. B)

A few weeks ago I found a good deal on a Pilot Decimo VP on eBay, $140 with shipping. It was purple, my favorite color. I couldn't resist. Second most expensive was a regular VP, bought used, for $80. I love me some Vanishing Points.

I think I have spent too much time on Facebook recently, Ruth. I read your post and started searching for the "like" button.

$900 MB Legrand Doue Steel

Are expensive pens worth it? Of course not, unless you can sell them for more then you payed.

Half of expensive pens write no better then Pilot V Pen, and thats like a $3 pen.

Inked: Sailor King Pro Gear, Sailor Nagasawa Proske, Sailor 1911 Standard, Parker Sonnet Chiselled Carbon, Parker 51, Pilot Custom Heritage 92, Platinum Preppy

two MB agatha christies, one of which has been my everyday carry for over a year now. i'm not a rich man and the pens cost quite a bit, but the pain of paying for them has long been replaced by the pleasures of ownership and use, and i have no regrets whatsoever about their purchase. should i ever need to, i could let go of one and be fairly certain of recovering my cost, if not even making a small profit. but i doubt that's ever going to happen ;)

Check out my blog and my pens

Are expensive pens worth it? Of course they are if they give you pleasure. Even a Safari is expensive compared to a stick ball point, so expensive is relative to your own values.

I know people I think are crazy to spend out on fancy cars, designer clothes etc. They think I am crazy to spend over £100 on a pen and even say they could not afford to do so. We all get pleasure from different things.

To quote Steven Fry "It is the unnecessary things which make life interesting and enjoyable"

Talking about pens currently owned, EoC's most expensive is a vintage Aurora 88P (with no serial numbers): cost $60.

Talking about most expensive pen ever bought, a Waterman 94: cost $150.

Luckily EoC only lost $15 on selling the Waterman. However, it is currently in transit and this one can only hope the buyer doesn't try the old "pen never arrived" thing. Sadly, EoC lacks any confidence in this area nowadays.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
