The Executive

Left FPN

Recommended Posts

I am celebrating and resting today so decided to 'fuel up' my 1986 Executive Tortoise Lacquer 17079 pen plus take a few pictures. It was given me back in 1986 for services rendered and has over those years been fitted with two or three new sections due to the ring corrosion. The converter shown IS the original and still functions as it should. I cannot recall it having arrived in a case but have managed to house it in the one shown which, though not of the correct era, suits it well.

The Executive and for that matter the Exclusive get few reviews here on FPN but I can assure you they are wonderful smooth writers and a nice comfortable pen for those with smaller mits.

Before I knew much about Waterman and way before my FPN days (probably before it started even) I recall shipping it off to Battersea for a new section to be added but they could only obtain the hand granade version as found on the Exclusive. It has since been fitted with the correct, fluted, style of which I have obtainind good stock to see it well into the future....probably way beyond me.

Here she is at 28 years old,

Nath: The box is genuine Waterman but I think dates from the 70's based on the text font used.

amk: yes and I have to add the current nib, a medium on the + side, writes better than any of my currently 'fuelled up' Carenes.

The box has very little wear and as always I picked it up fairly cheap. I have seen one or two others in this green but with pens attached.

I have a black pen that looks just exactly like that one, and it is a fabulous medium. I have wondered what it is for a while.

Yes, that's it. Thanks for showing these different Waterman pens. They made enough different types to confuse.

I hadn't used the Executive since August 22, and it writes right away. A great pen.

  • 2 weeks later...

better than waterman newer models

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

+1. Amen. An unbelievably nice pen, and I don't generally like medium nibs.

Very nice, but are you 100%...the W fonts on the box, sleeve and booklets do not match.

I have just noticed the W on your clip is of the early version which does match the sleeve.

I am 100% sure.

I bought the pen as a NOS. My pen is early like yours pen

Look at the trademark on the clip on my pen.

It is old. On your pen is a new.

This sign is mounted in a box on a permanent basis.

Looks like the nib matches the beauty of the pen, best of luck with it as always! Can you post up a nib close-up?

Every time Force surprises me with the extent of his collection.

Do you collect anything else than Waterman, Force?

(Expected reply: what do you mean, anything else....?)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
