The Ultimate Top Three Most Beautiful Montblanc Ever!

Francisco Pena

Recommended Posts

I am suspect because for me the most beautiful MB ever is the 139, however closely follow by the Alexandre Dumas and the Hemingway edition.

However if you ask me which one i buy, the answer would be hardly none, or at best hip the Alexandre Dumas.

Why, becouse I buy pens to use, same fear in using a pen in celluloid as it is not uncommon for my to fall.

Regarding the Hemingway, i do not not see how to justify such a high value exceeding even the 139.

For these reasons, although beautiful and fabulous I would opt for one 149!

Have to agree with the OP, 139 - Hemingway - Dumas.

Although I find the Dumas' design to be more practical (less susceptible to hairline cracks on the cap lip) really appreciate the simplicity of the 139/Hemingway, but that's me :)

The Dumas is the pen I have wanted for quite a while.

I've overlooked the Dumas for a long time. To be honest, I now prefer the Dumas to the Hemingway...

I just wish it had the 139's clip.... :P

Unconventional opinion: I like the purity of the 14. Wouldn't that make a great re-issue?

Looking for:
Mid-century and modernist Pelikans & MBs

I also love the 14. Great elegant design. Mine comes to work with me quite often.

I personally like the 149, the Jules Verne and the Mark Twain

+1, but in my case the order would be:

Jules Verne (for many years, my "grail" pen and hoping someday he will get reunited with his ballpoint cousin)

Mark Twain

Charles Dickens

149

and John Lennon

Although the Lennon is not as colorful or elegant, the symbolism of peace, the guitar, vinyl record and the man himself has made this a favorite every day writer :)

I actually really like the look of the 74 (14 with a GF cap)

Also, love the looks of the 644/444

And to round it up, something like the 234 1/2

The 139 "long-window" was the progenitor of the line you've selected. Its simple and unadorned lines make it a classic. It's a nice example of the adage, "form follows function". Perhaps that's why MB has created derivatives of it. The Hemingway is a nice variant of the original design and the color contrasts go well together. The Dumas is an embellished derivative of the first two examples and, to me, it's less attractive for that reason. Of course, the 149 stands in the same rank as the 139, perhaps accounting for its endurance to the present day.

With the usual disclaimers,

KAC

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
