Hello From Singapore

A very warm hello to one and all,

I'm from Singapore and just recently gotten back into fountain pens.

I was doing some cleaning and happened to chance upon my old Sheaffer Prelude fountain pen and ballpoint set in brushed stainless steel trim. The pair were in a quite a sad state and I managed to polish them up, gave the pen a good flush and ordered some cartridges.

It started right up and wrote as smooth as I remembered it to be. I then decide to look into getting some modern pens to try out.

So here I am, waiting for a bunch of pens and a couple of bottled inks in the mail with anticipation to start experiencing the joys of writing.

Looking forward to being a part of the community as this has been a great source of information and inspiration when I was researching which pens to purchase.

Cheers,

Alan

Thanks for the welcome SujiCorp, I've ordered Pelikan 4001 Violet and Turquoise to start off. I've seen the comprehensive thread on ink reviews and have a strong desire to try out many of the J. Herbin, Noodler's and a few other interesting inks.

Hello Alan. Which pens are you waiting for?

:W2FPN:

Hi mallymal, thanks for the welcome.

I'm currently waiting for:

1. 2 Jinhao 159s

2. 2 Dukes, P3 and 'Mentor' I think

3. Playboy model called 'APRELUDE' which looks suspiciously like a MB 144/145

4. 2 Jinhao X450s

5. 2 Hero Summer Colors

6. 2 Duo-tip Chinese pens branded "George Willsons"

7. 1 MB Starwalker

8. 1 MB 145 Chopin

9. 1 TWSBI 580 Rose Gold

Had to return 2 MB Starwalkers when they turned out to be fakes.

I also have a vintage Dunhill Torpedo full sterling silver BP which I'm debating whether to trade for a nice MB 146/149 or to keep and use.

Welcome, Allan !

I hope you enjoy the variety in pens that you are getting.

Cartridge pens are easy to maintain and clean, so I hope "dried ink" problems will be avoided.

Let us know if we can help.

Write with joy.

Thanks for the welcome Leon!

I've already joined the FB group prior to coming here.

I actually planned to go for the Straits Pen event, nice price on the TWSBI and inks. Too bad my wife saw the credit card statement for the above pens and I was banned from going. :D

Thanks for the welcome Sasha! I received all but the TWSBI and have dipped and tried most of them, and inked up a few that I think I will be rotating for daily use.

Cleaning out those that I plan to keep for later, I've already managed to kill one though, from fitting the nib and feed wrongly. It's just lucky that it was the cheapest of the lot.

Lesson learned!

Hello Alan,

The Jinhao 159 is an excellent daily writer, and comes into my rotation on a regular basis.

Do you have all your pens now? Have you used them? Do any of them stand out as being better than the others?

Best wishes,

Malcolm
