The Perfect Sketchbook

For those of us who sketch or paint, or just love stationery, you are probably on the perpetual hunt for the perfect sketchbook.

I looked at the link. It says it's made with watercolor paper for the pages, but does not say whether it is hot press or cold press paper (that will make a difference with how smooth or textured the paper is. And I'd have to see whether watercolor paper would be good for FPs -- I wonder if it would be smooth enough (and after all, WC paper is designed to be somewhat absorbent).

It would interesting to see what they are actually like, but I'm going to reserve judgment for the time being.

Hi Ruth, further down on the page, the paper is stated to be cold pressed. I wonder if it will work well with fountain pens, but I've backed the project any way. Perhaps the artists on this forum can chime in. Oh and should this thread be moved to the paraphernalia section?

Sigh. I wish he had gone with a portrait-oriented notebook. The landscape pocket watercolor notebook already exists in the Moleskine (even if it is inferior in quality). As far as I know, there is no equivalent portrait book.

Hmm. That's what I was afraid of. I'd think that there'd be too much tooth/texture for pens to work well (but it would be good for watercolors or other media). Not even sure that hot-press paper would be ideal.

This is my perfect sketchbook paper for combined sketching and fountain pen writing. It's lovely smooth paper, specifically for pen and ink. It's not pocket size though.

hot press watercolor paper and bristol both do an amazing job taking fountain pens.

I'm not related to the Erwin, but would like to see a good project that has been carefully created and prototyped come to fruition.

 

So if there are any of you who are artists and like the idea of the sketchbook, you may want to back this project and spread the word.

Hmm...come to think of it, I'm not sure how this thread is in Pen History. I thought I started it under the chatter subforum!
