Difference Between The Sailor Profit And The Sailor 1911?

Profit seems to be the only one available on the Japanese sites though. UK prices for Sailor pens are crazy (and other higher end Platinum and Pilot too) so always go to J-Subculture or Ratuken. aabyone got any other ideas. Typing 1911 draws a blank.

To resurrect this old thread, Kingdom Note is selling what seems to be the Sailor Profit Standard (if there is such a designation) for less than ¥8000 or about $77 US. It's about a $30-60 savings over everything else on Rakuten.

I find it impossible to figure out which model this is? Profit? Standard? 1911(a non-existent name in Japan)? I've seen the Japanese catalog online and it does not correspond with anything I see available in English.

I guess they don't want to make it easy to acquire at a great price.

On another note, here is a stationery store that went out of business and all of it's stock was sold (or donated) for around $1000. Imagine what turned up there!

Happy New Year!

Sailor themselves had an online ref sheet that tells, its Japanese but self explanatory - right here - and FYI, from top its Profit standard 14K, standard 21K, 21K Large, 21K Oversize aka KOP, Professionalgear 14K standard, 21K Large, 21K Oversize / KOP, Progear Σ 14K standard, 21K Large , and lastly Promenade 14Kstandard

AFAIK, 1911 is just the Profit series

Well, I will try here too. I obtained the Sailor Profit 75, their carbon pen for celebrating the company and its 75th year. It has a special nib and some sources claim it was made/created by the famous Nagahara. There is no "N" on the nib, which is easy to understand as he would not have made them all... However, does someone over here know more about the pen and especially the nib. Both are great, that I alrady know!

Thank you for the clarification. This chart, although missing serial numbers or product codes to compare with US retailers, is extremely helpful.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would add my experience.  I just bought (August 2025) a Sailor Profit 21 for $150 online.  It has a 21 K nib and it indistinguishable from my Sailor 1911 L pen which I paid a bit over $300 a couple of years ago.  And that has the 21k nib.  Now I am not afraid to leave the house with my Sailor Profit.  It would be painful to lose, but not as painful as losing $300+

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
