If it were to pick from these three, which one would you chose for your daily writer?

Ebony Purple.....

Well, I love grape, but 2 years later and I haven't gotten the stains out. Syrah is beautiful but too dry for me. I just loaded up Ebony Purple and it's a sneaky color. It looks black. Then, it looks purple. I could take it into court and get away with signing a document.

:) And you made me smile.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

LOL :)

I've just tried them again with a Japanese F nib. Interesting result, it lays a finer but much darker line, so the Grape looks as dark (black) as the Ebony Purple in the pictures above. A black with violet tinge, very classy. I guess the japanese pen manages to lay down the same quantity of ink except in a thinner line thus the increased saturation.

The Syrah with extra saturation looks gorgeous too.

Now that you scared me about staining, I'll refrain from inking an ExtraFine.... :P

In fairness, purples are more prone to staining.

I also say the Ebony.

Have you all seen the Officially Licensed Pacman Ghost lamp? My husband is already chomping at the bit for me to buy it for him (he's a big fan of the game).

They're alll nice but I think i'd go with ebony purple because it's the most conservative for general purpose use. I think syrah is the most aesthetic though

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
