Really Obvious Fake Montblanc Classique Rollerball

Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Love the forum! Lot of really nice and knowledgeable people!

I am in the market for a Montblanc 146 for around $200.

In my attempt to leave no stone unturned, I tried all kinds of search entries, one of which resulted in this:

Please check this one out!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONTBLANC-ROLLERBALL-MARBLED-GRAY-BLACK-SPOTTED-DESIGN-PEN-MEISTERSTRUCK-/310970271330?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item486745c662

Seems obviously fake to me, but would like to get a second or third opinion before I report it.

Thanks

He\She has 100% positive rating so I'm not sure he or she would jeopardize that.

I just looked at the listing and the pen sounds like it is in a bit of a mess. How a white Snow Flake can turn a pen that wouldn't be worth much by most other manufacture into a £100 pen is beyond me.

Although he/she has 100% positive rating,obviously he/she doesn't know much about Montblanc.

So it's a replica.

I don't suppose the fact that the refill is called "bright moon refill" set off any warning bells...

I'd never heard of Bright Moon before, so Googled them, and they seem to be quite a large firm specialising bin pens and refills for all makes.

The other MB that seller is listing seems genuine enough, and top pen is right, the pen is in a bit of a mess, even if genuine

He or she might unwittingly do that if they didn't know anything about Montblanc pens. I'm sure no-one is suggesting that the seller knows it's a fake and has deliberately listed it as authentic.

I agree, and looking at the sellers profile and other items,I think it is probably just lack of familiarity. Looking at it closely there are a couple of real warning bells, the barrel and cap rings, the star, and general quality.

As well as the fact that Mb have never made any marbled RB like this. Actually some of these fakes can be quite attractive. It reminds me of a Parker Sonnet pattern

I reported that one yesterday.

I see the first one was ended by the seller rather than having been removed by ebay. So the seller has kept his selling record safe.

As others have previously remarked in other threads; if the seller appears to be legit, but uneducated in MB, a polite message pointing out that they risk losing their 100% rating often results in the listing being withdrawn by the seller. If it does not, well ... then is the time to report it.

You don't know what you need until you realise you haven't got it.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
