Mb Writers Edition 2014--Daniel Defoe

Looks like a starwalker reincarnation..

That was the first thing I thought too-- that it was a limited edition SW... I've personally never been a fan of the SW though I understand their goal with releasing it.

I've just collected it. I imagine it will write like all the others. I don't though ink my pens anymore so I can't give you any advise - it's been added to the collection box and has already been put away. I've not yet weighed it but I suspect it will fall in the lower half of the range.

The price was more than I'd hoped. They've reduced the number of pens to 10,000 (this will be a continuing trend across all the LE ranges) and upped the price to £740.

I'll try the ink in another pen later this week.

I also got a pair of the gloves the assistants wear which was an unexpected freebie.

Hi Brandon

Would love to see pics, hear the stats (particularly, weight) if you get a chance.

Thanks

Just got mine today. It is a very interesting pen. None of the other we's are anything like it. This is one of my favorite we pens. So far I like the way it writes too. Feels incredibly well built-- even more so than some of the older we's.

I was finally able to hold one of these. I rather like it. I like the smoked out appearance of the metal. Now if it is worth picking up at this price or waiting for the secondary market.

What I did really like about this pen in person was the scroll work on the barrel. The brownish color of the pen didn't really excite me, nor did the bulbous looking cap. I never have been a fan of the star walkers, deltas or stipulas, so this pen does not really fall in line with my taste preference. What I did really like, was the heft and size of the pen. To my understanding each one is hand finished so no 2 are exactly the same. I will say it is a very interesting and impressive pen, but it didn't shock me like the Poe, Dumas, or the Shaw.

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the pen. The supplier I purchased it from at the penshow did not have any medium nibs in stock. They will be shipping me a medium tomorrow. The only thing I hope is that there is not a huge brown swirl on the barrel. I have seen some that look stunning, and others that are meh.

I really like the looks of this pen from the pictures. Might have to see this in person and decide whether to pull the trigger straight away.

I actually think this pen is stunning, Igot an email with pictures of it attached today though in the ones I received its much more of a beautiful wood looking barrel rather than what appears to be a black barrel in these pictures. It looks much warmer and more in keeping with the leaf stopper and the parrot scrolling on the nib, at lot less stark than the black and silver. I can put some pictures up later if you'd like me too.

Is there an ink to go with the pen?

Yes there is. To called "Palm Green".

I've not had a chance to test it yet though so I have no idea what the colour is

I have a bottle, but I haven't used it yet. I think it's very similar to Jonathan Swift which is a bit surprising really.

MB seem to like green inks. I was a little upset when I looked and saw it was green again.

They like their greens, but not enough to re release BRG

I rather like the ruthenium on the trim and nib for this pen. Is the pen anything like the Mark Twain in how it feels with that step down? I vaguely recall being able to try out the Mark Twain, but wouldn't be able to try this one as there is no boutique nearby.

I just received my pen. Sadly, it has a huge chunk of orange in the barrel. I would have preferred it without the marking. It's not as bad as some I had seen at the show though. My first WE that has the actual book style of display.

I was not aware there was orange color in the barrel. Is it a stain?
