Montblanc Royal Blue V Midnight Blue

Greetings - does anyone have a side-by-side comparison of these two please?

Or can you tell me if the Royal is the more intense. I like blue-blacks, but it seems the new incarnation of Midnight pales in comparison with the old recipe .... I have Organic Studios Manganese which I'm very happy with, so not sure if MB Midnight would add anything to that palette..... But all thoughts gratefully received.

Royal blue is nothing like Midnight Blue. I don't have any of the new formula so I'll show you sample of the old one.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Many thanks - I know they're not similar, but I just wanted to see how they compared .... I think Royal Blue is probably the one for me, I am after the more interesting ink, if that makes sense, and it seems that one has good shading potential.

Stick to the Royal Blue. What I have seen on reviews, the New Midnight Blue just doesn't to be that well received. To me, the ink is very ....... meh.

I have been using Midnight blue from MB, to my satisfaction, it has played very well till now except this " Its a permanent, slightly thick ink, so what goes around is that the smoothness of flow is not great or may be lets say poor for most pens. If you do have a pen with a long nib (like the parker premier etc.) it might go well. Secondly since it is permanent ink, it has more solid particles and that it will tend to dried out under the nib and clog the feeder system badly. In some cases it may cause corrosion of the nib and feeder system (except if its a gold nib) - and not cleaned properly and regulalrly".

Now, this one is particularly important if you are more into making things permanent. Nevertheless, it works well if you use is 'very' regularly and provide a good cleaning on a regular basis.

As a personal suggestion, if you aren't sticking to Blue, I suggest you why don't you try out the MB Black ink. Its amazing (not permanent of course). smooth flow and looks like as if its printed.!!

anyways best of luck !!

Thanks. Sounds to me like you've got a bottle of the old Midnight Blue if it's permanent, which seems a nicer colour than the new formulation. Lucky you!

Have to say I'm not a big fan of black inks, but you've got me thinking now .... Thanks for the recommendation.
