I'm curious, and in the US; the mark-up right now here is nearly 50% over the old price. As I understand it, the new line costs the same in Japan, meaning that an imported box of ink might well be cost-effective. I like supporting Sailor dealers here, but if I wanted more than a bottle or two, then the difference is pretty sharp.

we have a local seller of Sailor in my part of the world BUT BUT the inks arent that well.... say stocked

have you checked with the singapore pen circle on where do they get their Sailor Inks that could also help I think I know there's a pen network also in singapore

Way ahead of you, as already mentioned, have polled local fans, they end up buying from cool-japan on ebay, otherwise from the usual US sources. Anyone with input on my original question about Rakuten?

Just to add my two cents, I have a bottle of sky high and the new souten and they are almost identical. From what I've been able to figure out, the "new" inks are all re releases of older seasonal inks under new names, mostly from 2010.

 

I've only tried souten so can't confirm that, but a number of the inks share names with 2010 seasonal inks and the others share a color, or close to.

The inks do come from the 2010 Seasonal colors and Sailor picked the two most popular colors from each limited run:

Oku-Yama - Autumn

Souten - Summer

Doyou - Summer

Shigure - Winter

Tokiwa Matsu - Winter

Miruai - Spring

Nioi-Sumire - Spring
