Waterman Harmonious Green - A Handwritten Review

Hello friends!

Another handwritten review: This time it is Harmonious Green from Waterman. I love that ink. I really really do. It has its drawbacks, like any ink, but the excellent behaviour and great color make me love it. I can put up with the long drying time no problem :)

Any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

Cheers,

Martin.

This is my go to green. I really like how well behaved it is. It replaced my Private Reserve Sherwood Green. The water resistance is the biggest drawback for me. Thanks for the review.

Nice review! With all the ink choices available these days, it's easy to overlook the "boring" classics like Waterman and Sheaffer, etc.

I'm on a quest to find the perfect green, and I have to try this one out now too. Looks great.

Those "boring" inks should be the staples of every ink collection and are in my case.

  • 2 years later...

I just tried this ink for the first time with my Pilot Metro fine nib and I am in love. I don't think I have used another ink that shades this much with a fine nib. To me, it looks almost like Emerald of Chivor minus the flecks.

I use all of the Waterman inks barring black, so that part is easy. A couple of them are among my favourite inks but about their green I am more ambivalent. I like to use it as a variation rather than as my primary green.

This is by far the nastiest looking ink I ever bought; ugly, ugly, ugly.

Obviously, other people can see something in it that I cannot. I'm happy for them.

Thanks for the nice review. This is my standard green as well and I really like it. I must say that in general I'm not terribly fond of green but certain greens get me. And I like to match the colours of the pens I use with a corresponding ink. In search of an ink matching one of my most stunning green celluloid pens, I ended up with this Waterman ink. I really like it's subdued colour and gorgeous shading.

I'm surprised finding someone considering it's colour so abhorrent to call it ugly. But it seems that greens are quite polarizing. I've seen tons of green inks I wouldn't want even if someone would pay me for using it. But the great thing is that there are so many shades that there's one for everybody.

Yes, I was a little surprised myself at how visceral my reaction was to this ink. I mean, there are inks I haven't cared for but seeing the samples of this in my log still makes me say "yuck!". And it's hard to pin down the reason. If I had to put my finger on it, I'd say it's the underlying blue-ness of the green - it just doesn't look right to me.

I cheerfully accept that I'm in the minority here; I'm sure there are inks I like that leave others cold.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
