How Big Is Your Concord?

I was asked about ink for a little Concord (I use international shorts) and I realized I hadn't had my gold set out in a long time.

The Lady version really is petite - 124 mm capped, 9 mm diameter. The standard size isn't large - 134 mm x 11 mm.

The Concord must have been the inspiration for the Carene. They are nice looking pens and I did not realise there were 2 sizes which is now good to know. Perhaps I should get one...oh dear.

If you do go looking for a Concord here's a little more information:

Metal or plastic body. There are some very vintage colors of plastic, such as textured lilac

18k and steel nibs. There was a silver plated with rhodium 18k, and a brushed steel with steel nib. The two can look very alike.

The sections have a tendency to crack at the lower rear corners, or just leak for no reason. Waterman liked the random leaks so much they continued the feature in the Carene.

 

This is what a crack looks like. I glued this one years ago (gloss black barrel) and used it. It never leaked, though I suppose I could make it look better.

Some thoughts

 

1. Surely, my black Concord with gold plated cap suffers from this crack in the section.

I still couldn't stop the leak. Should try another glue.

 

2. Lilac color is very attractive but plastic model is so light weighted.

I wrapped the cartridge with a thin lead sheet for a good balance.

 

3. I didn't know anything about lady Concord.

"...oh dear." Well put Force. These pens are costly. An addiction to Carenes would be more cost effective, IMHO.

 

I wonder if this is another of those pens that a converter will not fit into.
