I have come across 2 beautiful FPs the Lamy CP1 and the Pilot Cavalier.

Lamy CP1:

I an looking for a sleek, beautiful minimalist FP for uni. EF or F nibs are perfect as I already own a bunch of Hi-Tec Cs and Uniball Micros.

I can't decide between the two. I own a Lamy Safari but I don't like it. Does anyone with both have an opinion between the two? Thank you very much :)

Cavalier is the successor to Minuet, which I do possess. It's... thin. Really thin. It makes my Lamy Safari look really big (an apt comparison would be Audrey Hepburn standing next to Arnold). The grip is also quite small... I think the pen was designed for smaller-handed people. I also dislike their squeeze converter.

My vote is for Lamy. The nib exchangeablity is extremely attractive, and Lamy takes beatings well. The Pilot... not really. The Met does take a beating without complaint, but I've seen Cavalier with scratches.

Tes rires retroussés comme à son bord la rose,

Effacent mon dépit de ta métamorphose;

Tu t'éveilles, alors le rêve est oublié.

I like my cp1.

If you get it from Goulet, you can also select a black nib, rather than the bare stainless steel nib.

I don't have a black nib...yet, so I can't comment on how it feels vs. a plain stainless steel nib.

A Lamy EF would be similar to the Pilot F. So if you really want thin ink line, the Pilot with EF/XF nib will get you there.

But just be aware that the smaller the nib, the more sensitive it is to the texture of the surface of the paper.

For a minimalist, the cp1 is the better option, as the gold trim on the Pilot adds "bling" to the pen. Although the Pilot with gold trim does look nice.

BTW, what don't you like about the Safari?

The cp1 uses the same nib as the Safari.

I just checked the specs. The Cavalier is less than 0.5mm smaller than the cp1, so virtually the same size.

Cavalier 8.5mm grip, 9.4mm barrel

cp1 8.8mm grip, 9.6mm barrel

The Lamy pur is slightly bigger, but I think it is only available in brushed aluminum, not black.

pur 9.4mm grip, 11.2mm barrel

Thank you for your amazing input

I don't like the funny colours and funky form factor

I'm gonna go for a CP1, just got an EF one off Gouletpens

Gonna use it with Noodler's HoD and it'll be amazing

Thank you for helping :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
