I agree with Tas when he says that Visconti's most likely able to solve the issue if you just contact them and explain the problem. But if I'm allowed the OT, I am named Andrea as well, and I'm a he (it comes from the greek word anhr/andròs - I lack the symbols - and it means "man"). :D Sorry, just had to add it!

I sent a description and pictures of the two faulty parts through a Facebook message earlier this week. No response yet though.

Apologies Andrea. No offence. :)

Silly me. I have a couple of MALE friends called Andreas

(I think the s makes them male and Andrea (no s) makes them female, in Greek)

mhphoto.

Shall we start a twin pronged attack?

As Andrea (male or female) has already said to contact him or her if I ever need any help, I could post that a friend of mine is having problems with QC?

Let me know, it's the least I could do.

looks like someone glued a candy drop to the magnet. What the heck

It's made for those people who chew on their pens. If it's the one with strawberry taste it's very rare. :lticaptd:

It's very difficult to find on e-bay because it's in the special pen candy category.

Still no response? Kind of wondering how they'll handle this, as Visconti is known to have great customer service generally :)

Sorry, should've updated! Andrea took good care of me and provided me with a US distributor to call. I haven't had time, but I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Excellent!

Erm, did you manage to ascertain if was Andrea male or female ?

Which of course is essential to the outcome of this investigation :lticaptd:

But jokes aside, great to hear! Wonder what'll happen next. I too have been disappointed by their QC, but nothing that couldn't be fixed easily, and I hear nothing but praise for the brand in the field of problem solving. At first I felt worried when I received my first Visconti, but these days I order (pens) from them without any hesitation :)

i think it would look better if they actually cut the cateye or some stone in HALF not 1/3 because it would look hemispherically uniform

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
