Green With Envy...

Hello. Haven't been here in a while, but am fine and hoping the same for all... I'm on the prowl for a new green. My only "true" green is the MB Irish Green. I've other variations: Diamine Teal, Noodlers' Turquoise, etc.: not real green. I love the Irish Green, but I'm looking for a shade just a tad darker without guessing it's in the green family. JUST a tad darker... Noodler's, Diamine and Roeher & Klinger [sic?] have some possibilities, but just can't whittle it down a bit. My OCD doesn't help. If your intimate with MB's Irish Green and can offer-up advice on one of these lines or another, I'd be most appreciative... Again, no green-black please...Thanks again & Regards, LeRoy

MB Irish Green can be hard to quantify, because it shades so well. It'll range from a vibrant mid-green similar to R&K Verdura to a deeper, darker shade that's in the neighborhood of Diamine Sherwood Green or even Private Reserve Ebony Green.

Sounds like you're looking for something closer to medium green than dark green. You might consider Diamine Umber. It's still a medium green, but it's a softer, less vibrant shade that's easy on the eyes. Diamine Woodland Green falls nicely in between medium and dark green to my eyes too. Diamine Emerald is a close sibling to Woodland Green where Woodland Green is bluer and Emerald features more yellow.

My favorite greens are Diamine Umber for a more sedate mid green, and Apple Glory for a get your attention bright green.

For a full page or more, it would be the Umber.

I love Montblanc Irish Green too and I use it daily. I also have Caran d'Ache Caribbean Sea. I like it very much. It is not turquoise but closer to green, a touch darker than Montblanc Irish Green and it shades wonderfully with a flex pen. It has been discontinued by Caran d'Ache and I only have 3 bottles in my stockpile. It is rather difficult to find it now.

Noodler's Bad Green Gator? Dark, but still iden tifiably green.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I only have two greens, Montblanc Irish Green and Diamine Sherwood Green. Covers the spectrum of green for me.

I don't have a lot of experience with Irish Green, having just bought my first bottle a few days ago. But if you're looking for something a little darker, you could try a sample of Private Reserve Spearmint. For darker still, I'd add my recommendation for Diamine Sherwood Green. I'd really like to recommend Diamine Beethoven but you have to buy the whole Music Collection to get it. But it really is a beautiful green, darker than medium greens like Irish, but not too dark.

I vote for Diamine Sherwood Green as well. For something a bit lighter, I like J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
