I love it when someone is so enthusiastic about his products!

It's a nice looking pen, obviously made to be posted. That leaves me wondering about the balance unposted.

answers to above:

It is round and smooth.

I find the balance unposted is very good but the pen feels a bit short, but maybe that's just me.

A very special review from Ruth Hanson.

That was a nice and very positive review.

Is what she said correct, that this pen was made in the UK? Not just assembled?

The pen has 2 aspects that are not my preference, metal section and made for posting, but that does take nothing away from the fact that Italix has once again produced a beautiful and well made pen.

I have been looking at some of your other models. Now this nib was a 1.1 italic. I also note there are stubs.

Do these italic nibs have some tipping left, and are they of the "crisp" variety?

Opposed to that, the stubs, are these what others would call a cursive italic and do these have tipping?

Problem with these names is there is no real standard. I have some Visconti and Delta stubs, that are really cursive italics in my book (and nice ones!), while I have two stubs on Waterman Carenes that are much more rounded and with less variation.

The pen is made in the UK with the exception of the nib itself and the Schmidt converter. The lathe turning of the cap and barrel the brass front end, inner sleeving and springs. the acrylic materials and chrome plating are all made in England. The final assembly is also done in the UK and nib grinding and finishing are completed in our Ruislip workshop. No actual factory is involved, all are independent engineering contractors.

Yes the tipping is removed to create a 'crisp' writing experience but we also offer the tipped variety, this is to overcome the occasional critic that we do not offer this, now we do. However I still think our crisp untipped version is the best by a mile. Our cursive stub is still untipped and is rounded but is designed to give an italic effect but lesser so that the conventional straight italic.

Thank you, that's helpful.

Three of us over at United Inkdom have put the English Curate to the test, and it came out well. You can see our meta-review here for an introduction, with links to all the individual reviews there of course - but more importantly, there's also a give-away of the pen we reviewed!

Just received my italix PE a few days ago. The fine italic was really smooth and i am somehow able to use it like a stub for cursive. :o The gloss lacquered barrel is a fingerprint magnet but that is what to expect when having a glossy pen. I have some issue with ink flow and hard starts in the beginning but it has gone away after a few days. The clip is quite stiff so i loosen the screw in the barrel but pray that it doesn't fall out. The pen feels SUPER back heavy when capped, luckily i don't need to use it capped. The screw in 'kit compatible' nib unit is very nice if i got bored i can swap it out for a gold or titanium #5 nib from Jowo, Bock and their derivatives.

Also, there doesn't seem to be the "Parson's Essential" engraving in the barrel anymore it seems...

In rotation today is Italix Parson’s Essential with Broad Italic Nib and it is inked with Diamine Eau Di Nil.

I bought this pen year ago. Initially I was not happy because of a certain sweet spot... however with regular use over the certain period... it has become a fantastic writer.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
