Pen Shops In Charlotte, Nc?

My wife and I are going to be in Charlotte in a couple months and I was wondeirng if there were any pen shops there. I know there is a Montblanc store, but anything from there would be out of my budget.

Are there any other shops there? I found a thread on here about Charlotte, but it's from several years ago and a lot of the places mentioned are no longer around.

Sorry, live in Charlotte and know of no shops here. Would like to find one myself. Last year, Asheville (about 60 miles or so down the freeway) still had Origami Inks -- they only lasted a few months or so in Charlotte. Maybe still open but don't know for sure.

While here, you might want to stop by the Montblanc Shop. The manager, Ulricke, has been there for years and is always willing to talk pens. Not to mention that the inks are worth checking out. My favorite is Toffee Brown.

Enjoy,

Yours,
Randal

I haven't been able to get out to Origami Ink yet but best I can tell they are still open.

May your ways be green and golden, and the wind be at your back.

I used to go to Charlotte a lot when I worked for one of the two major banks there. There was a luggage shop with a woman's name (sorry I can't remember what it was), and they carried quite a few brands. They also had a shop right in the airport. The downside is that they obviously were not offering discounts, but not bad if you were just looking at pen in person. Be sure and look for it before you leave the airport....

Just to update the info regarding fountain pens in Charlotte, NC as of December 2012; The only pen store in Charlotte, that I have found is Mont Blanc in the South Park Mall, too high for my blood. Also in South Park Mall is Mori's luggage. He carries some Watermans and some Lami's. Origami Ink in Ashville is still open, bought some stuff there in Nov. of 2015. It's a real shame that a large city like Charlotte, home to some major corporations, Banking capital of the Country and self touted "World Class City", can't seem to field a single fountain pen and stationary store. I've been to just about every 'stationary store' in Charlotte and not one has a more than a few sorry ass pens in a counter stand. If you are in charlotte and would like to contact me, view my profile and send me a note. I've been into fountain pens a very short time and would like to meet up with others of like interest.

I live in Columbia and I think the nearest pen store is probably in Atlanta (and they have a few). I'm really surprised Charlotte doesn't have a shop considering the size of the city.

A situation that I have bemoaned for years. The Montblanc store is worth a visit, mostly because their manger, Ulricke Hood, is fun to talk to and knows quite a bit about fountain pens and the Montblanc operations. Also, the Montblanc inks are worth buying for the quality of the ink and the bottle. I keep all mine and fill them with Noodler's, Diamine, R & K, etc.

Origami Inks opened a store here several years ago. Lasted six months. Not that the merchandise wasn't good. Just that they opened a very expensive site and couldn't stay in business long enough to turn the corner.

So, if you live in Charlotte and want fountain pens, you need to hit the Raleigh Pen Show each year, go to D. C. once in a while, and learn all about the online shops.

Enjoy,

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
