The Elephant Poo-Poo Paper Company

Recommended Posts

I wanted to show you all my review of this company that has an, uhm, unusual but ecologically sound approach to paper making. I found these journals and other products (cards, note-paper, etc.) at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

Oh, and excuse my cr--py handwriting (no pun intended  )

Thanks for the report on the . . . ummmm . . . "interesting" paper. I trust the paper has no unpleasant odors :P :P :P :P (hey, you were thinking it too :D )!

Elephant poop! Well, if it works, why not? Which leads me to a question - If elephant poop, why not horse poop? Our three horses could make regular contributions to a horse poop paper enterprise.

So many pens, so little time!

I need to get this paper for my friend's birthday.. She likes textured papers like this. I wish they made frog poop paper, too, 'cause she adores them (the frogs). lol

P.S. Another sort of poo paper was mentioned some time ago here.

There's a company here in the UK (Green Stationery Company) that makes Ellie-Poo paper and envelopes as well as several other recycled papers.

I sent for a sampling of their papers and am working my way through paper made from ellie-poo, straw, bananas, crass, coffee and barley, hops & recycled beer labels! :D

I've now narrowed it down to a couple of papers that I want to order and the ellie-poo is one of them. I figure the nieces and nephews will have lots of fun saying "eeewwwwwwwww!"

I looked up the Sheep-poo paper - the photo for their letter sets actually shows the paper with a fountain pen and bottle of Quink ink!

I think I will give this a try.....

Another brand of Elephant Poo paper is the Pachadyrm Paper Company. We used one of their journals for our travel Journal and it is a much more FP friendly paper than the Elephant Poo-Poo Paper company. I will try to post a review. It has a slight bit of texture and a laid finish, but not bad.

I used an Elephant Poo-Poo card a Father's day card to my dad last year.

I still want to know what percentage is Elephant Poo.

I emailed them and they sent me samples of several of their papers. Some are completely unsuitable for FP use (unfortunately the straw and banana papers fall into this category) but there are others that work really well.

I'll be interested to hear what you think about these when you get them.

And I thought that "Zoo-Doo" (bags of fertilizer sold at the Bronx Zoo) was a good idea!

You should see if they have any Zoo-Dude's - little garden statues of dried and baked doo that dissolve in the rain and fertilize your garden. . .

(I am not joking. . . and they also make great gifts for the right people on your list).

  • 3 weeks later...

What has happened to imagination? Must we view a logo of an elephant standing in front of a pile of manure? Surely, those of us who are quite used to dealing with poo in our private or public lives, are "tuned in" to what poo is. Do we need to see an animal standing in front of his own private little pile of it?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
