Would be a very close race between:

  • Faber-Castell, Guilloche
  • Montgrappa Miya

To be honest, I really like the clip on Lamy Safaris. Not very pretty, but oh so functional.

I don't own a Safari (I am on the fence as to whether I would want one, I had a bad experience with the one I owned and gave away) but I do agree, the clips have a certain appeal and the one I interacted with felt like it'd be sturdy.

It depends much on the pen.

Unfortunately I'll be getting a new computer next month, in this one has too much Windows junk on it and Photobucket no longer works for ME on this com. I can't put the pictures up now.

My inlaid semi-flex nibbed Geha 725 is a very sleek black and gold pen with rolled gold trim, two gold disks has a very simple straight clip with two small lines in it that ends with the similar to the Geha oval on top.

It's astounding what the proper couple of lines on a simple clip can do. It was the pen Geha set out to catch MB with and did.

I have a MB234 1/2 Deluxe with the same Meisterstuck clip as on the 139. That pen was made in '52-55 for those who did not like the new 146-9 pens, and liked the 139.

My Lamy Persona black titanium oxide and gold trim of only the clip and gold disk on the bottom only, has a serrated top spring clip in the body of the cap. It is a very neat clip.

Hi,

While I can't recall I time I ever used the clips on my pens, I like the Aurora and Pilot Custom clips. I think they look very nice. I think I prefer clipless pens though.

Most functional: Sheaffer's spring-loaded clip that swings out to fit over thick pockets.

Best design: Montegrappa's clip with the rotating ball.

Most clever: Sheaffer's "Reminder Clip" on vintage ballpoints, keeps the clip recessed into the barrel when the point is out, thus it won't let you clip the pen to a pocket until the point is retracted, pretty cool.

Purely from a design standpoint, imho +1 Montegrappa's clip with the rotating ball

For artistry's sake, I would go with my Omas Emozione Di Carnavale:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
