I'm Rico, from Hudson.

 

I just got onto fountain Pens about 2 days ago.

I've been thinking that I wanted to get a Fountain Pen lately then stumbled across the Burlington, MA. Paradise Pen store. I just looked around the first time knowing I would be in Burligton again. The next time, I looked to buy. I ended up buying a Vision Nature Rosewood Fountain Pen with a medium Iridium point from Online GmBh.

I've been doing research online since.

 

Last nite I found a Levenger True Writer Kyoto Fountain Pen at one of those "sell your stuff to us & we'll sell it to someone else" stores.

There was another one that had the lever & I couldn't take it apart to open it, so I left it until I could learn more about pens.

 

I brought Kyoto home & started researching pen restoration. (I'm a year into a hobby of restoring Vintage tobacco pipes and razors [mostly Single & Double Edge] so I figgered pens shouln't be too difficult.) The Kyoto is a cartridge pen, so it'll be an easy first Fountain Pen restore. It came w/ an empty cartridge so I know what it looks like to find others.

Locally, I can't seem to find any Levenger ink. Does anyone know if other brand cartridges are compatable? Otherwise, I'm resigned to ordering online. I'd like to find something locally so I can use my new beauty right away.

There is a Levenger store in the Prudential Center Mall in Boston, MA in addition to Bromfield Pen Shop (on Bromfield Street in Boston) and Bob Slate Stationers in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA. These sell a variety of pens and inks; of course, you will be able to find Levenger ink at the Levenger store.

Tho' I was thinking more "local" than Boston - kinda like Nashua or Manchester,NH.

Maybe I'll find the time to drive the hour down to Boston, fight the traffic, struggle with parking & do a bit of shopping.

Yes, I'm very familiar with the various EDs due to my involvment in razor & pipe collecting & restoring!

[/OT] I've been looking @ a couple of those in antique shops, but neither had directions.

I'm also familiar with blood loss. My collection includes 1912 Gem SE, 1920ish Gem Micromatic SE, an Ever Ready 1912 SE and a Keen Kutter JR pattened in 1905 to name a few. They're all very agressive. [OT/]

Levenger pens generally take any international cartridge. Get a converter for that one to use most any fountain pen ink!

the lever filler doesn't "open" in the way you think....the lever pushes on an interior sac that then draws ink up through the nib. Depending on its age and whether it was filled with ink when it was last put away, the sac may need to be replaced. You'll need some tools and to get the correct sized sac.

Now, where can I find international cartridges?

Staples,etal just look at me funny & point me to their stock (which is not what I'm looking for).

IME, Staples staff know a little about everything (of their stock), but nothing on a specific/specialized items.)

Example: ask about international fountain pen cartrdges,they give you a funny look & just show you to their display that you already looked over.

I've been researching & was just reading about that. I'll prolly get into that a lil later on, when I know more & feel more comfortable.
