PW Akkerman No 10 is easily my favourite all round ink!

I jumped right in and ordered a bottle immediately after reading lapis's thorough review https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/220349-akkerman-ijzer-galnoten-blzw/?p=2330260

It has been impeccably behaved on anything I've put it in, or on.

Very similar, in my findings, to ESSRI but I find it much wetter and more saturated when initially laid down.

For sketching, delicate fine feather free lines can be quickly washed over to leave a feint but lovely trail. If left for a while, the same lines will not budge.

I use it on all my envelopes as even the rain we're having here in London now won't wash it off.

Blue, Shocking Blue, Garuda Rood, Hopjesbruina and Koninginne Nach Blauw are all on my 2014 radar . . .

Is there no dealer in the USA carrying these inks?

I hear Vaness is carrying some colours, but that was some time ago, and they were not advertising it. You could drop them a line...

But I think prices would not be cheaper as they too have to import the stuff and make a living too.

Akkerman is accepting paypal and seems to have good packaging.

Welcome aboard!

See the post from Dick and the post above from Vaness Pens.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Akkerman inks are available in the US from vanness.com, a mom and pop store in Little Rock, AR. Free shipping on three bottles. The two inks I bought from them--indigo and grey--are fantastic. The bottles are nifty too.

Vanness now shows Akkerman inks on their website. I dashed into their shop in Little Rock yesterday and got a bottle of the #10 Iron gall ink for $28. I'll have to go back when I have more time to examine their wide and gorgeous display of fountain pens.

I hope one of the vendors will bring Akkerman inks to the SF Pen Show. I'd like to have one of the small bottles. Even with sharing samples, I'm still only about half-way through the bigger bottle of Hopjesbruin.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      >Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color,<   I'm sure they were, and my answer assumes that. It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
