Paradise Pen

Greetings All!

Does anyone have this pen? I am interested in the Guilloche type finishes--jade, (new) blue, and copper. What is your experience, please?

Thank You.

Here's a pic to aid anyone who isn't familiar with the 5280, the "house" brand of pen at Paradise Pens. This one is the copper colored one, which imo is the nicest looking one (but of course, as the OP mentioned, they come in various colors):

I don't have a fountain pen, but I have an early model 5280 rollerball - it's my desk rollerball. They're rather heavy pens, so I wonder if they're comfortable to write with as a fountain pen. I imagine it would be top heavy. They're robust and seem pretty well-made, just heavy. The rollerball is fine for rattling around in a pen cup. Not sure I'd go for a fountain pen.

I have a red 5280 fountain pen that I purchased on clearance last fall at Paradise Pen here in Columbus. It is the one that has the magnets for capping and posting.

It is a heavy pen but not uncomfortably so...I usually write with the pen unposted since it is a bit top heavy posted. The nib is a medium which is very similar to other mediums that I own. When I purchased the pen I was concerned with the small almost nonexistent section but it is very pleasant to write with and I have no complaints. It finds its way into my rotation quite often. The magnetic cap and posting system works well with no issues and the nib was fine out of the box with no adjustments.

I would buy another one if I could catch it on clearance...not sure I would buy at the regular price of $100+

Thanks. The 5280 being considered is the Majestic line which is diff. than the 5280 wit the magnet, and I hope you continue to enjoy it!

I have the carbon fiber 5280 fountain pen that is (Fine). I'm pretty sure its the same as yours in terms of build. For mine i've got a Schmidt fine nib thats pretty good on the flow and isn't scratchy. The only problem that I have with mine in particular is that sometimes the ink might leak and the main reason why is that it is a magnet cap so the pen doesn't retain its internal pressure. Also, when writing with it for a prolonged amount of time it starts to feel uncomfortable to write with, I think the reason for this is that the barrel isn't large and that there isn't really a dedicated section to place your hand.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
