A Good Edc Pen Case?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm looking for a pen case for my 'everyday carry' pens, something I can carry in an inner coat pocket without being too noticeable.

I normally carry three pens.

What do you use?

Currently I'm using a Franklin-Christoph 3 pen case. It's a nice case to carry in a bag but I wouldn't recommend it because it's hard to remove pens from the case.

In retrospect I'd prefer to have something like a Libelle three pen case instead.

I picked up some leather 3 pen cases from ebay a couple years ago. If I remember correctly they were from somewhere in Asia, and only like $10-$15. If I can find a link I'll post it, or maybe post a pic this evening.

this year, or this month, or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to practice ourselves the kind of behavior we expect from other people.

What is your budget?

I have a two pen case made by Aston Leather; it also has a belt loop as I don't usually have a bag with me in which to carry things. Not sure they still make cases with belt loops, but that is not what you are looking for, so that is a moot point. The case I have is very well made, looks nice, protects the pens, and I like it. It is also made of vegetable tanned leather, if that is important to you. Aston makes 1, 3 and 4 pen cases as well 2 pen cases. isellpens, a vendor highly recommended by many here on FPN, sells the cases, as does Amazon and other places, I am sure. Here is a link to isellpens' Aston Leather case offerings: Aston Leather The 3-Pen cases are on the second page.

I really like the Levengers Carezza Triple Pen Sleeve. Nice and flat for a throw in. Caution though it does not have a cover to keep the pens in, it relies on the friction of the interior of the sleeves against the pens. I have never had a pen fall out but I'm a pretty boring home to office back to home kinda guy.

Libelle 5 pen wrap works well for me.

I don't have a budget, if I like it I'll buy it. Cost just isn't that big a deal.

This is what I have...

I carry 3 pens every day total - a 51 Vac for regular writing, the 51's matching pencil, and a '30s Vac Standard for when I want to get 'fancy'. I would like something I can keep in a front coat pocket all day without looking like an offduty cop. I would like something reasonably durable I can toss in my briefcase if I need to. Black is preferred if possible. Basically, I would like something I can carry my 'regular' pens in without them getting all scratched up.

Thank you,

ken

Everyday carry pens require access. You seem to be describing a storage and transport situation instead of a need for protection and organization.

For quick access you need a deep opening in the front panel so you're not necessarilly engaging the clips. Yet the pen separators must extend most of the way to top of the compartment to keep those clips from rubbing against adjacent pens. The unusually deep cut in the front panels requires an unusually long flap or, better, a box-like hinged cover, for a secure closure. That will restrict your access. So you'er back where we started.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
