Multi Pen With A Fountain Pen Componenet?

I collect multi pens... mostly they're 3 or 4 different colored ball points and sometimes a MP to boot. I have one that has 10 different colors and another that has 8 different pencil leads...

But I've never seen one with a FP component? Have any of you?

cheers

Combo pens (fountain pen at one end and a single lead mechanical pencil at the other) were popular back in the 1930s and I have several ranging in quality from barely usable to a couple of very nice Conklins and a black Sheaffer's that looks like a Balance at one end with a mechanical pencil at the other. Most of the fountain pen nibs are the cheaper pressed metal type with use related wear patterns but the Sheaffer's and one of the Conklins are beautiful writers with very nice nibs. Remington made some pretty combo pens that are good writers (with a little tweaking) wrapped in pretty plastic. Ink capacities are usually a little skimpy unless the pen is huge and the pencil has a very short lead. An eraser, if present, is probably petrified.

They can be a lot of fun to restore and to use. Check eBay and pay special attention to the nibs. Most of the pencil mechanisms will still work if you can find the leads. Prices are usually fairly reasonable except for the big name brands. Happy hunting.

i have a few combos: three are FP and MP (Stratford, National and Eagle Pen Co) and one (chinese made "Lily" brand) is an FP and BP.

oh, i also have a no name sterling silver body combo pen that unscrews on both end, also BP/FP.

Whats funny here is **I** collect combos! Mostly the Indian series... but it never dawned on me that it would be a 'multi pen' but of course it is. Most multi pens rotate and a pen or pencil comes out the tip. That's what I was thinking of...

Cross made a component pen which also included a fountain pen. I think there were four components which included a two color ball point, a roller ball, a highlighter and a fountain pen. It was called the Matrix and was made around 2003. Pen World had it on the cover of an issue.

Also, I know there have been several regular fountain pens (can't think of any specific names right now) with two separate nibs that could have different colors. I think one was an OMAS which had the pen split horizontally and connected with some kind of pivot mechanism in the middle.

I also have a couple of plastic multi-color (8 and 10) pens. Have two Rotring that have 4 spaces for different colors or you can use the "slots" for a pencil or a stylus.

I like using the Rotring pens when I am taking notes and don't want to hold 2/3/4 different color pens.

A grey day is really a silver one that needs Your polish!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
