Mont Blanc Boutique In Houston

Yesterday, my father-in-law decided to run to the Galleria unexpectedly to buy my twins some shoes for their upcomming birthday. Since he is was only in for half the day, we had to literally run out of the house when the decision was made. That being said, we all (the whole family, Myself, my wife, my Six year old twins and the Baby) were up and dressed and ready for a day working around the house and mowing grass. We were not in our Sunday best, not even our school/work clothes! My father-in-law is exactly what people who are not from Texas imagine people from Texas looking like. He wears a button down long sleeve western shirt, wrangler jeans, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat ALL THE TIME.

So, after taking care of the kids shoes I decided to look at the Mont Blanc Botique and test out some finer nibs. The man who helped me was very kind and curtious and helpful and my pen is currently being sent to Fort Worth to the service center to have the nib swapped out. Nothing but good to say about this gentleman, and I would likely return and purchase more from him.

That being said, there were three ladies sitting at a small table off to the side of the room who all worked there. None of them offered to help us or even spoke to us. My wife ended up leaving the store as I was testing the different nibs due to these ladies constant looks and sneers. My father-in-law felt VERY out of place and left as well (although he is out of place in most stores in the Galleria. lol ).

The service I received was great and the gentleman I dealt with was super. I was just dissapointed in the fact that we really did seem to be judged by the fact that we were dressed overly casually. I noticed the ladies glares, and even contemplated buying my wifes Princess De Monaco while I was there just to prove a point, but I came to the conclusion that I had nothing to prove and I should focus on the Excellent service I had received and not the precieved attitude of the ladies not assisting me.

All in all the nib exchange is underway and I really appreciate that Mont Blanc gives you some time to write on your desk, with your paper to decide what nib is right for you.

Interesting. Sorry to hear that. I've been to that boutique many times. Try Lynn or Brandy, got only good things to say about them. Did experience some mediocre service from others.

And by the way, given that it was Texan Day on Friday and 50% of Houston were dressed like your father in-law, I think they we're probably amused more than judgmental. Just guessing here. B)

You are probably correct. I may ask for one of these two ladies when I return to purchase my wife's pen.

The great thing was how easy it was to get the nib replaced. Quick, simple, single page form, no questions, no extra cost, just good customer service.

Now I just need to patiently wait for it to return from the repair center.

Remember that it has to go all the way over to Ft. Worth and gets delivered on the daily cattle run.

  • 1 year later...

api510,

From Dallas here. I used to be a professional and travelled often. Either wore a suit or sports jacket. When I sort of retired at 50, I started a welding/fabrication business and now my 'uniform' is dirty jeans and workshirt most days. I love to mess with people when they stick their noses in the air. My 18 y.o. daughter just walks away because she knows what's coming! I would have made them get up and come help me. My dad was a banker, but he loved manual labor. I also remember the most important lesson he ever taught... dirt under one's fingernails doesn't designate social status, it is a badge that signifies a strong work ethic.

"Not a Hooker Hooker, but rather a left-handed overwriter."

I've visited the Galleria location, but prefer Dromgoole's myself. I got my Marcel Proust from there, and they have a lot of neat things to look at.
