I bought this at a flea market yesterday for $8.00. It's something I have always want ed to own. Now that I see how much they are worth I am stuck between keeping or selling/trading it for a Pelikan fountain pn. I am so lost. I've always dreamed of a Mont Blanc but now that I have it I am scared of hurting it. It is engraved with the previous owners name but who cares, what's in a name anyway? Unless it's a Mont Blanc correct?

If you like it then keep it.....I made that mistake once, got a 145 for a song, sold it because I thought it was too expensive, my wife ended up buying the same pen at over $100 more than what I originally paid

Nothing wrong with a BP at all. Or a rollerball. It depends on what you prefer.

Ballpoints tend to be click-button (or in MB's case and others) a twist mechanism.

Rollerballs have the more traditional cap. It depends on pragmatically and aesthetically which you prefer.

I've always missed the sterling silver MB rollerball I gave to my brother on his birthday. I think if you're going to go with a MB ballpoint/rollerball then the silver one carries a certain amount of elegance. Otherwise, there's something unremarkable about just another plastic twist action BP.

My favourite ballpoints are Aurora (uses standard Parker style refills) and the Lamy 2000.

In Rotation: Parker DuoFold Centennial / Duofold / GvFC

In storage: Too many to name.

+1 for the Lamy 2000 ballpoint. It's one of my regulars, together with my lamy studio. Ive actually just started looking for a new bp to bridge the gap between being nice and too fancy for work. I have a Montegrappa ballpoint which I love, but its a bit too blingy for work. The classique bp is nice but a little too old for my taste. I'm leaving heavily towards a starwalker - just don't know which one.....

I recently bought a Pilot Hi Tec C Cavalier from Jetpens. This is a 0.4mm gel ink needlepoint (roller ball). It is quite a narrow diameter pen and it needs Pilot Hi Tec C Cavalier refills but it is for the refills that I bought this pen. Smooth and very fine writing.

Can I use a rollerball refill in my Classique? They have them at Office Max for about $15 for two.

Before you judge someone walk a mile in their shoes. Then if you still judge them you will have a headstart and they will be barefoot.

I've fit a ballpoint refill into a rollerball pen without any trouble. However, using a rollerball refill in a ballpoint will cause it to dry up prematurely. The tip isn't as protected and I think you'll find that the refill does not last long at all.

I have a LeGrand RollerBall- in fact it is the only pen that I won. I have shied away from FP because I prefer low maintenance "tool" toys. So I the the RB writes well, looks nice and there is nothing to do to it except take off the cap.

I have found that sometimes on cheap paper or waxy paper, it will not write- but I think this would apply to any roller ball. (I use mine everyday for everything)

(though I will admit that hanging around here is making me think about a FP.)

Just got myself a Dunhill Sentryman Mini rollerball to go with my MB 136. Every fountain pen should have a companion.

Very easy to hold and small enough to fit it pretty much anywhere. But i just used my MB Starwalker fineliner again and wow, love that springy point of the MB fineliner!

Not a MB, (per the forum), but I treasure a Cross Solo BP received as a gift from one of my former students. cloud9.gif

It's one of those I don't carry outside of the house. Just as with the Solo fountain pen, it's comfortable in the hand, and writes beautifully. Burgundy color, goldtone furniture.

I have the LeGrand Rollerball. It was for a few years my go to pen. It leaks something fearce when the refill is not new and I fly though.

I wish there was a way to convert the rollerball to a fountain pen. They really should sell a little FP converter so the barrel and cap could be used more by me. :puddle:

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

Now I've seen the MB release photos for the Einstein BP and RB - they now take the first place in the MB wish-list

If I was going to get a ballpoint or rollerball as I already had a FP and needed one for ease of use I would pick up the MB ball point as you dont need to spend time un capping and re capping it and theres no risk of losing the cap you just turn the barrel and write away! the roller ball tends to dry out even sometimes with the pen capped. I have an MB ball point and I love it.

I love MB ballpoints. I own three in the Meisterstuck line, two Starwalkers and a purple generation pen. They are fun.

I am glad someone resurrected this topic. As of right now I have 5 MB ballpoint pens, which I love and use all the time. Comparatively, the ballpoint versions of the MB lines tend to be slightly slimmer and shorter than posted FP/RB pens of the same version. That will make the feel different. However, the BP's are quick to put into service and overal do not need the maintenance of FP's or replacement as often as RB's.

My current selection consists of: MB WE Honore de Balzac, MB WE Mark Twain, MB WE Wliiam Faulkner, MB WE Alexandre Dumas and an MB 2013 UNICEF LeGrande

I like the feel and the appearance of the Bold MB BP refill ink but also have colors like nightfire red and india orange in Medium for contract redlining at work.

I have three ballpoints that get used either when travelling or for signing long documents that need initials on every page (fountain pen ink would take to long to dry if you need to quickly turn pages).

The three ballpoints consist of a MB Hemingway and two Parker Duofold Centennials.

Since my earlier post (in 2012 - gulp) I have now acquired a Gandhi, Hitchcock and 75th Anniversary LE RBs and an Imperial Dragon BP. Still - using my Proust BP at work today :-)

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
