Anyone Seen A Montblanc Packaged Like This Before?

Have some money burning a hole in my pocket and stumbled across this, thinking of picking it up but wondered if anyone ever saw this packaging before and if this seems legit?

Thanks

I wonder whether it is a box MB uses to transport pens to branches and not for resale?

It is called "inflight packaging", for sale in a plane. Normally you only can buy this during a flight.

Yeah, that is what I first thought when I've read the topic without seeing the pictures. But even the pens I've bought using "in-flight packaging" did not really look like this. Maybe they change it recently.

Thinking about it a bit better, it makes no sense whatsoever that it would be a fake. A fake is a copy that is meant to be recognisable, not really a trend setter in defining new modes of packaging. Furthermore, the imprints on the refill look correct, and the pen itself looks genuine (as much as it is possible to tell from a picture of a packaged item).

Hi,

I have seen this type of packaging quite often. It's only used for shipping pens to dealers and customers usually do not "see" this kind of packaging.

Then there is also "inflight packaging" which looks similar but is of a bit higher quality.

See here for an example of this type of packaging:

Best regards

Michael

Yipp, that's right. MB ships in two different types of packaging, similar to the watch companies:

- Box, Papers and all of these things

- the pen itself

In this case the dealer can safe money, because if a customer just takes the pen, they can keep the box for the next customer (only for standard pens, that's clear).

Let's say it like this: "More" original is nearly impossible - or you pick it up directly in the production plant ;)

There are no facts, there is no truth - just a data to be manipulated...

Hey thanks all, saw this online and am thinking about making an offer, hadn't seen this type of packaging and figured it was transport to dealer packing but wanted to be sure...never know with all the fakes out there

Thanks

In flight packaging does not include the white lined box with it's outer that we can see in the picture. That box is a boutique retail box.

I think Brandon is right

The first two Bar Code stickers above UPC, have been peeled off; along with one of the two Model Information stickers at the bottom. These have obviously been put onto another Box, ready for presentation to the Public (for another Pen). The Pen pictured, along with the refill, are obviously supposed to be assembled ( unless the refill is a spare )and placed in the accompanying Box. The remaining labels are supposed to be peeled off the backing and attached to the Box, for presentation and sale to the Public..........same lazy **** just couldn't be bothered.

I'll chime in with everyone else, Mathew J--legit shipping package from the MB factory. I was at my local authorized dealer (AD) two years ago, and he was unpacking some new Generation ballpoints, and that is what they looked like.

Hey thanks, yeah looks legit but unfortunately the guy wants more for it than I would pay at an Authorised dealer, figure for that price might as well just support a real dealer that helps the community...the search continues.

That really is some strange packaging but isn't worth the extra money. In-flight packaging would be my guess (like everyone else). I too would rather support a real dealer.

Also could be from a hijacked shipment....i.e. stolen or grey-market......Caveat Emptor!
