Ink Cartridge Cases?

Mystery Pen Lover

Recommended Posts

Hey,

getting ready for back to school and realizing that i'll have to carry my cartridges with me. I dont really want to just toss them in the bag so I was wondering if there are cartridge cases. Ive checked a few websites and havent found any. Im thinking i may just look for a little coin purse or the like and carry them in there? What have you all done with your cartridges?

I store mine in a metal "Altoids" box. For a couple of

short "International Standard" carts, I use a "Tic Tac"

box.

Check out this current thread as well.

Perfect timing. You need to take a look at this thread.

Those Kaweco dispensers look cool. J Herbin supply cartridges in little tins which are neat for carrying around.

Thanks all, i think the Herbin tin is just what i was looking for. I would normally use the little cardboard boxes but i had them given me in bulk and they came in a large glass jar. cant go carrying that thing in my bag.

I use a cigarette case.

Very nice case. Very cheap. Like 5 bucks.

Depending on how low end you want to go, a used plastic prescription pill bottle can carry a handful of carts. You peel off the original prescription label, use wd40/goo gone if necessary to get the label remains and adhesive off, and wash it in dish soap.

You can cut a piece of paper that has some sort of design on it to the inside height of the pill bottle, and curl it up inside the bottle to give it label/design. These bottles are small and tough so perfect for being knocked around in a soft bag or backpack.

The ones I have are perfect for Sheaffer, Pilot, Platinum, and Sailor sized cartridges. They are a little tall for the short International carts (but they would certainly hold them), but I'm not sure they are tall enough for Parker, Aurora, Standard/Waterman/Pelikan Long, Lamy, etc carts.

I like the Visconti packaging. I've also just used the cardboard boxes that my MB carts came in. If you want to go real old school/retro, I have also used the plastic containers my 35mm film came in (Damn I'm gonna miss Tri-X). They seal pretty tightly.

If you have the long Waterman type carts, you can get containers similar to the 35mm ones, but longer at any science/hobby store. I think I paid $1.49 for mine.

All I want is 1 more pen, and 1 more bottle of ink, and maybe 1 more pad of paper. Well, at least until tomorrow. Oh yeah, and throw in that bottle of single malt. Is that asking for too much?

thanks Chris.

hey Mystery, you want some of these Herbin tins? I used up the innards and the tins are too purdy to toss *magpie*

Otherwise, like others I'd recommend something with rigid sides (mint tin, specialized Kaweco/Visconti container, etc) over something soft-sided like a coin pouch. First, it's hard to find small coin pouches (I know because I love those myself - really teensy ones you can hang on your phone. They're mighty hard to come by, about 5% of all the assorted small pouches out there :P) Getting a regular sized coin purse will mean lots of extra bulk. Second - most important - they're not much for protection. If a nice heavy textbook drops on the pouch and a cart bursts, the ink will be EVERYwhere. Not a good look :-)

I lurve mrcharlie's idea. Dirt cheap + super-customizable = win win win

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
