Omg! Pilot Vanishing Point

I know this has been reviewed before but I have to give my two cents. I am in no way a professional penman (or whatever the correct term is) and maybe it will help someone to have the review from an average joe/jane. And I just had to sing the praises of this pen.

I have waffled for some time about getting one. I wanted one, I coveted one, I surfed pics, I read reviews, I added it to my wish list but $140! Wow that may not be a lot to some but it is a lot to me, for a pen. Then, surprise, I got a bonus at work for extra work done. So to treat myself I bought the Pilot Vanishing point from Goulet Pens. I purchased the brown in fine point. I received my pen two days after ordering. Excellent shipping from Goulet Pens, wonderfully packaged. Great customer service (no affiliation just a happy camper), thank you Goulets and Alex who packaged my shipment.

First off the pen is lovely to behold the brown is a milk chocolate brown, think Hershey chocolate bar. It's a nice weight; substantial without being heavy and weighted, a very nice balance in the hand. The body feels metal but I'm not sure, like I said I am in no way a qualified pen reviewer other than the fact that I am a pen fanatic. Tbe click mechanism works perfectly, it's very smooth. I filled the pen up with J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune because I'm a purple gal and that's a lovely ink. I reassembled, clicked and it started writing instantly. And let me tell you it writes like a ballpoint pen or really smooth roller ball. That's how smooth it is, seriously. No skips, no stutters, just lovely smooth flowing ink. The fine point writes very fine too. I can't imagine how fine the EF would be. I love this pen. I love the look of it. I love the capless feature. I love the way it writes. I am so happy I have it. If you're considering it my suggestion is to bite the bullet and order it.

Glad to hear you like it! I love my matte black VP; it's very smooth and is one of my go-to work pens.

I think that the Vanishing Point bodies are brass - most of them are lacquered (I think?), but mine is anodized.

Currently using:Too many pens inked to list, I must cut back! :) I can guarantee there are flighters, urushi, and/or Sheaffer Vac-fillers in the mix!!!

I bought one and loved it so much I bought another one a week later. Very smooth and for me the clip is in the pefect. Location for how I hold my pen.

Two Vanishing Point's and a Fermo later I cant decide which I like more. They are both wonderful writer's for everyday use.

Make sure you try one out first. They are very smooth writing pens but some people have issues with the clip which will be right where your thumb and finger sit. If that is not an issue then yes, they are a first rate writing instrument.

I use mine regularly and is a joy to write with. Just wish the converter could hold more ink. Sometimes the ink runs out before the day is finished and only with modest writing. However, still a wonderful, and best of all, convenient FP to use.

Hi,

If you want more ink capacity, I find that the Con-20 converter holds a bit more ink than the Con-50. I fill my pen up every week or so.

Worried about it and finally bought a blue carbonesque from a fellow FPNer.

Niiiice!

Then I bought a matte black one from pb2 also here on the boards with a 0.6mm graceful italic stub.

I love these two pens. They see use almost every single day.

I just got a Yelllow VP last week and at first was a little unsure about it. Squeaking and was having some problems. Then I filled her with Aurora black and it has quickly become one of my favorite pens. The ability to click and write quickly is such a convenience that it's hard to use anything else when I'm jotting down notes at work.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
