I forgot to add; I love and use small sized Bohème pens and their clips are all perfectly aligned. As far as I can see from your photos it’s highly unlikely for the clip to become misaligned in regular use. So, how can this happen? Is this an issue for some pens not properly assembled in the factory or a result of disassembling during service?

Regards,

Halid

Hi Halid, thanks for the kind comments. I suspect each pen's clip is individually aligned with the nib at the factory. Maybe the mismatch can happen at a boutique if the caps get exchanged by mistake or if the propel/repel mechanism comes loose a little during use. I have not much experience since this is my first Boheme.

Great post and one I have bookmarked for future reference! I admit to having more than once considered the large size Boheme for my first MB purchase as I am a big (read HUGE) fan of retractable nibs from a design perpective. I also love the shape of this pen, despite the misgivings of some MB devotees. I shall continue to mull this one over I am sure!

Hi everyone,

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for all kinds of information here. Interesting reads & very useful tips.

I'm totally new here. I've been using MB rollerball & pencil for many years but I put up the courage today and get myself a Boheme Noir FP with EF nibs. Lovely pen and writes so smoothly in English, Japanese & Chinese. Just amazing.

Just a heads up to everyone, the clip in my Boheme is not lining up with the nib when posted so I try to follow Hari's instructions to realign the clip. Looking inside the cap, I have found that MB has changed the shape of the screw that hold the pin. It's not a straight grove anymore, MB has it changed to a star shape screw. See attached photo.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for sharing the pic. Very informative and a good addition to this thread. You can modify a hollow tube to form two prongs at the end to unscrew this.

Very interesting and detailed, had I taken this pen apart, I would have had one small but vital part left over and the pen would not have worked.

Wonderful information, Hari--thank you. I have a Boheme black resin rouge and a sterling silver barleycorn and they are both fabulous pens and write flawlessly--smooth as silk. I also like the clip to be aligned with the nib and as I recall--when I first purchased each pen I simply put a soft cloth around the nib and gently moved it to align with the clip. Both have worked perfectly ever since. I did not know what I was doing but it worked. As we say in the Blue Ridge mountains: "even a blind pig can find an acorn." (not that Professor Plume is comparing herself to the worthy swine!).

hari317 you are amazing! And that is good. I just purchased a mid sized boheme with the same issue. should have done a search before I posted a question on what to do. How long will it take someone to point me to your post? best regards, bib

Hi Hari regarding that big Boheme is it a cartridge or piston filler.

All the Retractable nib Bohemes are Cartridge filled only, regardless of their size. HTH.

Its a shame they stopped making the big version in favour of the current smaller ladies version, which for obvious reasons is far too small to use, even with my medium sized hands.

Agree with you, very nice pen indeed. Wonder if eBay will sell them.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
