#53 pencil, #30, #25, #20 coral red, #72G PL, 234 1/2 PL, 146 green striated, 144 grey striated, 246 and 244 green marbled.

322 azure blue, #30 x 2, #25, 146, 146, ID, Brahms, 146 silver barley, Collodi.

Of all of them, I like the 136 best - fits my hand better than the 139, but the best nib is a flex #30 medium I got from another FPN member. :cloud9:

That's grey and not green?

Hi Fred, yes, it's grey and not green. There are more pictures in my review of the pen here.

342 that I like. No idea why but this model comes in handy and fit in front pocket nicely (without being so flashy).

Could not agree more.I have a 3-42G. It is a wonderful writer and no one ever asks to borrow it. It kind of hides in my pocket and stays out of the limelight. Suits my purposes very well indeed. I would also say the same for my 24. A great pen but not flashy at all.

Some interesting vintage landings of late, although there's not much available light in dreary old blighty these days!!!

Very lovely pens! Do you want us to guess?

1st - 136 pre war? (the nib has a 36 marking ...)

2nd - looks like a 138 but I thought the 138 only has the tie pin clip?

3rd - also a 136?

4th - wartime 134?

5th - 234 1/2G?

Best regards, Kai

Very lovely pens! Do you want us to guess?

1st - 136 pre war? (the nib has a 36 marking ...) Its a 138 and the nib is steel marked 436.

2nd - looks like a 138 but I thought the 138 only has the tie pin clip? Its a circa 1941 136 with fine steel nib..

3rd - also a 136? Its a 1948 transitional 134 with 14k medium flexi nib...

4th - wartime 134? Its a 1942 134 with OM steel flexi nib

5th - 234 1/2G? Indeed it is a 234 1/2 circa 1935. The "Luxury" line used 100 series trim with a 200 series pen. Visualated barrel window. Medium, flexible, right oblique nib.

Just ran out of time posting, but thanks for tagging them accordingly, I have updated the ensemble above. :headsmack:

The old ones look so much better than the new stuff.

I found a 236 that was a total wreck, bought in Hanover in 1947 and completely abused for years.

After a complete rebuild by Fountainbel it is a pen to have pride in.

Very nice pens in this thread! My favourite vintage MB is part of a set:

Montblanc 244G extra-fine, flexible and matching 272 mechanical pencil from the late 50s. I think the nib is too fragile to bring this pen with me to work, but I really enjoy writing with it at home.

50's 144 - OBB flexi nib

Thank you, David.

The photos of both pens show an ink view "window" with slits. I thought that all 50's MBs had a solid ink view window (i.e. "clear" all around with no slits). Now I'm confused, because I had thought that was a clue of the more modern 14X pens. There never seem to be any simple ways of telling which post-war era an MB is -- I like the older more flexy ones.

Both my 146 pens from the 1950's have striped ink windows. My 244G and 3-42G have clear ink windows.

Hi Glen, thanks......discussions around ink windows always do offer wide and varied viewpoints and I for one have found the pinned reference posts in the Montblanc section exceptionally helpful. I firmly agree with you in that the older nibs are so much nicer to write with.
