It's weird. It looks like Pelikan is going for people who know of the clear m205 pens but like gold trim, but haven't been paying attention since long enough ago to remember the m250 colorless demonstrators, and maybe any m200 versions that were sold. It's going to confuse new people with the plated nib and the gold plated cap top / inner cap ring (nut?).

Personally, I don't like 'clear' or demonstrator pens but I know there are a lot who do. It was really just a post to make people aware that they are coming!

I really hate to say this, and am probably going to get labelled a blasphemer, but if you take away the gold trim and make the piston thread black instead of transparent, you've got a TWSBI there. The similarity is particularly present in the link by the OP. I'm not going to debate which manufacturer may have copied the other, but the two pens are eerily similar.

Collection Counts: Cross-4, Esterbrook-15, Eversharp-1, Graf von Faber-Castell-1, Jinhao-2, Kaweco-1, Lamy-6, Levenger-2, Monteverde-1, Pilot/Namiki-3, Noodler's-1, Parker-18, Rotring-10, Sailor-1, Sheaffer-19, TWSBI-1, Visconti-4, Waterford-1, Waterman-7

Favorite Inks: Diamine, Levenger, Private Reserve, Noodler's Lexington Gray

I think it is way overpriced, relying on the SE/LE marketing trick.

Already have a clear M205, will suffice as small Pel demo (of course, having a clear M800 demo and a M1005 reduces my "need" for Pel demos...).

Daddy, please no more pens - we need food, clothes, books, DENTISTRY...

I have 4 of the pelikan demonstrators from the late 90's in red, blue, amber and green. These were bought with the intention of filling them with the appropriate color inks, which I did and still use that way. What I have observed is that over the years, even with proper cleaning and maintenance, residual ink stains are visible in all of the nooks and crannies and threads that are visible. Since I have used the same color ink as the demonstrator, these stains complement and add "character" to the pens.

Now I know the pen in the link is really nice to look at _now_, but unless you are willing to put in an extraordinary amount of effort into keeping the pen clean, or not inking the pen at all, any long term use will end up staining the pen. To each his own, but I am not a big fan of demonstrators for these reasons. It's interesting that demonstrators are never shown with ink.

Overpriced? Tried to get the discontinued clear? Not ordering today, but that's #2 or 3 on my wishlist now.

I have the blue and yellow (duo) demonstrators and yes, up by the nib, and (somehow) between the two rings of the piston seal have got purple staining. But, for me, I say so what. If it was that important for me to have it look like it just came out of the box, years after putting it to use, I'd just never ink it. The fun for me is seeing the ink slosh back and forth when it's not completely full, and it'd take serious stain opacity to compromise that.

I did get some staining around the inner cap of a stockholm, with red ink, and that's a little bothersome, but hey... pen or museum piece, choice has to be made and lived with.

Seems good!

It's a reissue of the M200 in GP trim, and you can make it the M250 model by purchasing the gold nib instead!

It's good if you do not have the old model(s), and desire them!

I have the clear 250 demonstrator that I bought 10 years ago, would be difficult to tell them apart. Given the popularity of demonstrators they should just put it in regular production instead of every several years releasing it again and calling it a limited edition. Glad I bought it when they were more reasonable price wise.

I have the 800 clear and 200 blue demonstrators. I like this one because it has the gold trim. Don't like the 1000 because it doesn't come in the gold trim. If this was $100us I'd be more interested! I'll wait and pick up one second hand.

So many M200 demonstrators

My favorite was still the clear/platinum trim, M205

And the M200 demo predates the TWSBI by a few years

I have recently become a fan of clear demonstrators, but I don't really care for the gold furniture on this pen. I like the rhodium, silver, etc. colors on the Pelikan clear demonstrators (205, 1005, etc.). However, I prefer the gold furniture on the non-demonstrators (200, 800, 1000).

I have to agree with an earlier poster: I discovered the TWSBI 540 clear demonstrator which has silver furniture and, for me, it has been a great pen. So much so that I can't justify buying a Pelikan 200 clear demonstrator.

I did have some staining on a Pelikan 205 clear demonstrator, but that was due to me filling it with PR Dakota Red and only using it sparingly. Most of it was cleaned with water and some pen flush. I have Iroshizuku tsuyu-kusa in the TWSBI and have had no staining issues. So, staining is a function of the ink, how long it's left in there, how frequently the pen is cleaned, etc., and should not discourage anyone from getting a clear demo like the 200.

I'd probably prefer it with silver colored trim as well, but OTOH I do like the transparent piston... cylinder?

The red and green stripe I like with gold, but for whatever reason the silver trimmed M405 in blue has been calling to me. I really do have too many Pelikans to buy another, though.

Very much this, and I'm wondering how impossible it would be to swap out that cylinder into an M205... People do tear these things open occasionally for cleaning, right?

It comes out, just might scratch things up and I think you can only do it a few times before something breaks. Shouldn't be impossible though, if it is worth the expense to you.

Tho, who am I to speak, given that I have a m400 red and am contemplating a M405 blue (but not m400 blue). I feel bad about caring about trim color, but, wow, when I saw the pen (605 probably) at the pen show that blue & chrome really grabbed me. The over $200 price everyone is asking, well, that doesn't.

Very nice looking pen. I would consider buying it if I know what the price would be in USD. If the price goes stratospheric though, It would probably save my money.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
