18K Gold Pen

Do you own a gold fountain pen? Not a gold-plated one; the actual solid gold cap / barrel like the one here from Platinum.

If so, how do you like yours? Is it like a sterling silver pen as far as the weight and maintenance / storage regimen are concerned?

I have two, with a matching ballpoint for one of them. They are a bit on the heavy side, like Sterling silver, but the balance is good. Both are excellent writers. Mine are a bit different than yours in that the trim (clips, blind caps and tassies) are 18K gold just like the caps and barrels. So are the nibs. The nice thing is that, unlike silver, they don't tarnish. So they are actually easier to care for than silver.

Sterling silver need not be heavy. My P-75 was my by far lightest metal pen until I got a Lamy CP 1 which is aluminum.

 

Of course the P-75 is standard size...Large and oversize pens could of course be 'heavy'. They are heavy in plastic.
