Noodler's Ink: Baystate Blue

Wonderful, Brilliant Color. Writes a more on the "wet" side. STAINS EVERYTHING! Even Stained my Stainless Steel Kitchen sink! It came off with cleaning rubbing alcohol though. It's the price to pay tough to get such a vivid color....I think. Anyway, I would recommend it.

I finally got a bottle of this a couple of months ago. Dedicated a M Pilot Plumix to it and tuned the nib accordingly. The color really is great, but I found that it feathers on nearly all the paper I've tried.

Still, the color is unsurpassed. Now I'm curious about the other Baystate colors, especially the Concorde Grape.

Thanks. I am going to get some. Does it stain pens ?

I think I will inject cartridges, just in case.

It has not stained anything PERMANENTLY yet. It just gets on things and is a hassle to get off. It has caused a little bit of discoloration on the grip of my pen, but I have not really that hard to get it off.

Being still pretty new to FPs, what do you mean by tuning the nib? What did you do? and Why? (e.g., did you do something to increase the flow or make the nib write wetter?)

As beautiful as I find this color, I chose another vibrant blue for my blue: J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir, when I'm not using Aurora Blue, that is :)

I have a Pelikan dedicated to this ink and the parts of the barrel that come into contact with the cap from posting and capping have a nice blue ring around them. I recommend a blue pen.

Seek that which is true, beautiful, and good.

I have a blue Kaweco Ice Sport converted to an eyedropper for this ink. Looks better stained!

Hey! :W2FPN:

Thank you for the Welcoming :)

I have also found that this ink Feathers on lots of different papers, ESPECIALLY cheap 20lb copy paper. I have had better luck with Hammermill 28lb Color Copy Paper, and believe it or not some notebook papers.

I will say that the faster you write, the less it feathers... But I assume that holds true for all inks. I'm still learning the world of fountain pens, but I'm greatly enjoying it :)

I love BSB. And I love every shade of purples, corals and violets that I've gotten from mixing the Bay State Inks. These colors are unique.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Ooh -- love the color of the "No More Kings"! What's the mix ratio? (Of course this apparently means I'm going to have to order a sample of Cape Cod Cranberry now....) :headsmack:

I'm sorry Ruth, I don't know. What happened was that I ran out of BSB (can you imagine)? And, because it was the 4.5 oz bottle, I couldn't stomach wasting a single drop. So I put some of the CCC in - and I was amazed!!! I think the only possibility if you play with it. :)

If you have some empty vials, send them over and I'll send some CCC back to you. Just send me a PM.

That's okay -- CCC was on my list to begin with, then got dropped in favor of some other inks to sample. I want to order some other stuff at some point so a sample of that will get folded into the order (and maybe another sample of BSB so I can play around with mixing the two inks. By then I might have some cleaned out vials.

Thanks for the offer, though.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
