Goldfink By Tom Westerich

I know this is not exactly MB related, but this seemed like the best place to share a pen that Tom Westerich (penboard.de) made me some time ago, I believe almost 1 year ago actually. The pen is made from red & black mottled rubber. I've been fascinated by this material and Tom recently learned a new method for polishing this material that should give it more of the MB red mottled safety pen like finish. I plan on sending it to him sometime this month. Here are some photos of the pen prior to Tom polishing it.

I really enjoy closeups of this material. There is something fluid about the way the colors intertwine.

LOve it--A Goldfink is on my "must get" list.

Is this a safety filler?

Sorry, I was so distracted by the swirls of red/black I forgot to mention that it's a button filler. However, going off memory, Tom gave me the option whether I wanted piston or button, but he recommended button filler.

I love it. Mottled black and red ebonite is my favorite pen material. I've been eyeing similar Goldfinks on the Penboard website for a while now. Is it a safety filler or a button filler? What nib do you have?

Edit: oops, I just saw your reply above--it's a button filler! Cool!

Tom's pens are nicely crafted. You can feel it when you hold them and take them apart...his new spider web celluloid covered pen is quite nice and I'm tempted, but I just finished a series of big MB purchases, so I'll have to hold off for a while. The nib on this pen is EF size. Sorry I don't have pics of the nib.

Hi Wael, nice pen, but achieving such excellence seems to be a habit with Tom W. BTW, is that an Christie nib?

Hi Wael, nice pen, but achieving such excellence seems to be a habit with Tom W.

Thanks Hari, Tom is truely an artist and I'm really tempted by his latest creations...but alas, I've made a decision not to have more than 20 pens at any one time, and as of now. I can't get myself to give up any of my current pens. I'll have to really think about it.:bonk:

BTW, is that an Christie nib?

I'm sorry, but I can neither confirm nor deny such allegations

cheers

Thank you Wael, that is confirmation enough, and I understand the reasons.

Warm Regards,

Hari

Well photoshopped and well presented.

Beautiful pen. I saw some pictures of a *ahem* prototype green striated MB 139 and 149 also ... he's a talent.

In Rotation: Parker DuoFold Centennial / Duofold / GvFC

In storage: Too many to name.
