I agree with Meiers, they do not produce a lower-quality budget pens.  See the attached photo, disregard pen finish, which of the pictured pens resembles your pen?  The top is the 161 LeGrand ballpoint, and the bottom is the 164 Classique ballpoint.

Drgriz, thank you. It is like the top one in your photo, the LeGrande, although the seller described mine as a Classique.  I think I might prefer the true Classique version!

I love MB fountain pens, but I'm just not crazy about their pens and pencils.

Actually, Drgriz, now that I compare my pen to the LeGrande, mine seems a little slimmer--somewhere in between the LeGrande and the Classique. But the system of bands on the cap is like your LeGrande. Weird!

I agree--I've started the process. What a shame. I wanted something to match my beautiful and %100 trustworthy Classique fp. I'll try again, but I'll probably save up a little more and buy brand new.
