Good Stapler

My Boston "Ultimate" Stand up stapler has given me nothing but problems since I bought it. Lately it's been jamming every 5 staples.

I would like to replace it with another desktop stapler, preferable one that is comfortable to use hand held and from the desktop.

Are there any staplers still made of metal and in the USA? Or other free country with decent labour laws?

Swingline seems to be all made in china now, has that effected thier quality?

What do you recommend?

How about this one?

I'm not sure how well it would work from the hand, but it looks like it would separate if you needed to staple something onto a noticeboard or the like.

I have one of these and highly recommend it:

Its more of a desk rather than a hand stapler. But its very retro, american made, all steel, and built like a tank. Its the kind of stapler you can bang on without having to baby it.

That's a nice one. I use a smaller El Casco stapler available from Lee Valley:

These are *very* nice staplers. The plating is well done and they're built to last from thick guage steel and brass.

I like the El Casco the best, but it's too expensive. The Ace Pilot looks nice but some reviews have said they are not made in the USA anymore. I can't seem to find info on where the paperpro stapler is made.

I am going to write paperpro and ace to inquire about the country of manufacture for their products.

Has anyone tried the Aceliner? http://www.acestaple.com/aceliner.html

You know, I just assumed it was made in US because the company is based here. But I just flipped over my Ace Pilot and sure enough it says made in China, so I feel kinda stupid now, ha ha.

Well anyway, another option is getting a US made vintage Ace Pilot on ebay, or I bet there are a lot out there in thrift shops, antique shops, garage sales etc.

+1.

In the mid 1970s, I found a Swingline in the woods. I still have & regularly use it and it ALWAYS works.

I'd love to know the story of how it got there.
There are a lot of things from the '70s that don't make sense, not just a stapler in the woods. Leisure suits, Disco, AMC Pacer,...

The black velvet pictures needing UV light to "see properly," and those damn Lava Lamps.

More than likely on an abrupt decision to go find some wild shrooms, someone said: "Hey, bring the bong," and the dude was too ripped to distinguish it from the stapler.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I have a red swingline and a vintage Ace Pilot. The Ace is the best. I've bound books with it. Put 1/2 inch of paper in there, the stample goes through every sheet.

Mine is from the 50's or 60's though..?

That Zenith looks like the right idea also. Follow the old design and use metal, not plastic. Ron Swanson approved.

I'm sure there's an interesting history to all the products that we have come to use on a daily basis around the world.
