The Montblanc LVG Bi-plane was commissioned by Len Provisor with the research help of Axel and a few others. Len had commissioned several Parker planes before hand. Here are a couple pictures of those just for back story.

In 2004 IIRC Len advised he was researching the MB Bi-Plane. I had been doing a lot of research on MB on my own, and had come across some other pictures of the LVG and sent it to Len for his plane. Len is a HUGE asset to the pen community so I didn't think twice about sending it to him. Len had a prototype made up and I told him I really wanted to purchase one once they were done. The color was a little off and Len had another prototype made up and it was spot on. Unfortunately the planes were proving too expensive to make IIRC and the plans were scrapped. Only two were ever made.

 

One day Len emailed me and asked if I liked the package he sent me. The only problem was that I never got a package from him. I contacted the USPS and after a lot of work, discovered that the post office had misdelivered it to someone else. The post office sent a couple messages to the person that went unreturned. Eventually they sent someone out to the address and when they asked said person, he advised that he had gotten and opened the package...AND kept it. The person turned the package over to the USPS and a few days later I took delivery of it. It was an AMAZING gift that was way out of line and undeserved by me. I couldn't believe Len sent me one of 2 that he had made! To this day, it is a cherished gift and always will be!

 

And that is the story of the LVG! Mason

Would I be correct in assuming that the 132 and wartime long ink window 134 and 136 derivatives may well be in that league? :hmm1:

Can someone mention which are the Rare Vintage models of MB and hence more valuable..Pl note that the reference does not necessarily pertain to the oldest models but the rarest models...For example some models were discontinued very quickly and hence becoming more valuable than pens produced way before their time...I can think of two examples :

 

 

1) MEISTERSTUCK 138 or 139L FTN PEN ca.1930's

2) Masterpiece Green Striated 142 < 144 < 146 ca.1950's (especially if the striations were straight rather than swirled)

 

 

what about the 149 ?

Not the rarest bird out there, BUT it is rare to find one with a nib that is truly in like new condition! Cap has a little discoloration, but it is way worse in the photos than in real life! Excited to use this one!

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
