Authorized Mont Blanc Dealers On Fpn?

Hello gents,

I am traveling through the USA in September (Memphis, New York, Boston, San Francisco), and am currently on the lookout for a new Gaius Maecenas and circa 1952 vintage 149.

I have checked with the usual suspects (Joon Pens and Fountain Pen Hospital) - who both carry the Gaius Maecenas, however I thought if there were AD retailers of Mont Blanc as members on this forum- I would like to support a fellow FPN'er and give by business to them

Please let me know if you are located in any of the states I am traveling to, and we can discuss the above purchases (obviously the 149 I am looking for I will post in the classifieds)

Regards

Con

Morning Con -

Because your quest is for a 1952 MB 149 - the first year for the 149, neither a MB Authorized Dealer nor a MB Boutique will be able to help you. The MB Authorized Dealer agreement covers only the sale of new MB products. And I know of no MB Boutique that also carries vintage MBs.

Your best luck will be with independent vintage pen dealers and with consignors. I would think you would have better luck finding an exceptional example of a 1952 149 in Germany at a German pen show, moreso than in the US.

Unfortunately, you just missed the largest US Pen Show - the Supershow in Washington DC. Attendees are reporting lots of vintage MB pens were for sale.

Here on FPN, there are a few members who collect, repair, and re-sell vintage MB pens. Niksch is one of those. He may be able to help, or he may point you in a good direction.

FPN Member Bryant also re-sells vintage Montblancs through his website www.pentime.com

Have a great trip.

Hi Con,

if you intend to buy a 149 from the 50ties, then you should definitely contact one of the most respected experts for Montblanc vintage pens, which is without any doubt Max (max@maxpens.de)

Best regards

Michael

Ray, I think he wants to look for an AD to buy the Gaius Maecenas ;) Nevertheless, you pointed him in the right direction for the vintage 149.

Quite right. Apologies.

All Authorized Montblanc Dealers and all MontBlanc Boutiques are indexed on Montblanc website under their Boutique Locator function. Even though the title suggest the application will only locate MB Boutiques, it actually lists all Authorized Retailers and Boutiques: http://www.montblanc.com/boutiquelocator/index_boutiquelocator.phphttp://www.montblanc.com/boutiquelocator/index_boutiquelocator.php

Montblanc Boutiques are much more likely to have Patron of the Arts pens like the Gaius Maecenas in stock - most Authorized Retailers stock the Meisterstuck series and very little else.

If you call a week or two ahead, many Montblanc Boutiques will order in what you want to inspect and consider - so it will be waiting when you arrive.

And a hearty second for consulting Max!

This conversation as peaked my curiosity. Are you saying that if a store which carries Mont Blanc pens is not on Mont Blanc's website, it is not an "authorized dealer"? I have a good reputation with some of the salesman at my local Paradise Pen Co., and I know that they carry a very good selection of Montblanc offerings. Would there then be a reason why you should not buy a Mont Blanc from a store which is not considered a boutique or authorized dealer?

Thanks!

The Mont Blanc website's store locator (they label it "Boutique Locator") information isn't exhaustively complete.

I searched on "Boston" in their store locator, and the Copley Square Mall boutique is listed, as well as E.B. Horn jewelry for watches, but they don't list Bromfield Pen Shop, about 500 feet from E.B. Horn, which has been an authorized dealer for decades.

Searching on New York doesn't show Fountain Pen Hospital, also an authorized dealer for many years.

After some poking around, it looks like right now their dealer locator may only show MB Boutiques for authorized writing instrument dealers in the USA.

All I wanted to know was rather than give my business to the large corporates, I thought if there was a fellow FPN'er who was also an authorized distributor, I would prefer to give them my business.

I have since been in contact with Bryant who has been most helpful and arrangements made

Thanks for the input gents
