I love the stuff that's showing up here! I've been away a few days on a trip to Mountain View, Arkansas-interesting town where my father grew up. Took a few pictures while I was there. This is one I took along a sidewalk:

Great images! I know the basic theory of HDR and its multiple exposure, but am sadly ignorant of how such images are best combined in Photoshop. Can you recommend any on-line instruction on best work-flow procedures to maintain luminance and so on? Thanks.

 

Thanks! I didn't use photoshop but used a plugin for the HDRs - Nik software's HDR Efex Pro.

jon, that mill machinery photo is pretty cool. I especially like the lichen on the wheel. Nice shot!

Thanks! I also did a black & white of the same subject, but I haven't done much digital b & w, so I'm not as happy with it, especially when I see what other people here are able to do! Anyway, here it is:

Go to your mail box and you will see hints for "doging in"technique in LR.

Nice b/w from New Orleans, Sonia! All your pictures have me wanting to make a visit... or maybe when it cools down a bit... It's been too long, and it would be nice to have coffee and beignets (sp?) at the Cafe du Monde.

New Orleans is such a beautiful city in terms of architecture, it does remind me somehow to European cities. Yes, it is beignets. And thank God we're having rain here to cool us down from the scorching weather.

Now, Arkansas is gorgeous for its karst regions and underground caves. I loved north AK and it reminded me much of the karst region back in home, Puerto Rico.

 

I like that photo of the men chatting.

Nice pictures, Kathleen! I love the village shot. The teatime one reminded me of one I took at a tea market in China. I didn't like the way mine turned out-bad in several respects, IMO, just snapped it quickly from the doorway. But it was an interesting place:

Sonia, This was taken in Grasmere, England. I have just returned from my vacation in the Lake District of England, Edinburgh, Scotland and 5 days in Ireland. It was wonderful, so many beautiful scenes. I wish I was a better photographer, with a better camera.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
