A pen for those who have climbed, skied, or trekked the Mont Blanc massif. :happyberet:

Does seeing the Mont Blanc submontane from Chamonix count as well?

...please say yes, because I'm planning on getting one as well after seeing it in the Geneva boutique last week (and seeing the Mont Blanc in real life a day later).

:yikes: The Mont Blanc only on position 8?

Montblanc would never support an edition where the Mont Blanc isn't in the first position  or would they?

BTW, a Montblanc collector should know: the Mont Blanc measures 4810 Meters!

Meghan

Does the Tribute pen have the same dimensions as the regular 145 (Chopin)?

I had the impression the pen is slightly larger/wider due to the use of the laquered metal but also did not have a direct comparison to a regular 145.

When hearing about this pen at first I was afraid that it would be too small for me but seeing it in real life it was OK for me.

Cheers

Michael

Michael,

Yes, the pen is the same body size and style as the 145/Chopin/Classique. It is significantly heavier, though, which is really nice.

Absolutely!

Loved Chamonix. I had the fortune of walking the Tour du Mont Blanc, and Chamonix was our start and end for the trek. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_du_Mont_Blanc

I think this pen would be a wonderful memento for anyone who has seen the massif. :happyberet:

We Singaporeans demand a Mount Faber edition!

Mount Faber is a hill about 105 metres (344 ft.) in height in Singapore,

Hmm, I believe Bukit Timah Hill is taller than Mount Faber, so that might be more suitable, though a Mount Faber (like Mount Fuji) does sound a lot nicer than a Bukit Timah Hill edition.

Amazing. I can't say I'm generally a fan of Mont Blanc... but damn...

Congrats on the indulgence!

Just curious, is their wording "tribute to the Mont Blanc" grammatically correct? I mean, I know Mont Blanc means white mountain, but since they are referring to a specific one, shouldn't it just be tribute to Mont Blanc? I'm going to guess that they did it so that it doesn't seem like they are creating a tribute to themselves. :roflmho:

Now back to your regular programming.

(I do love the creative use of the design on the section!)

Maybe can have both editions! :meow:

Regarding the use of a converter with the Tribute to the Mont Blanc, the good news is that a converter fits into the body of the pen just as it would in a 145. The bad news is that the section is not threaded for the converter. So while it fits, and can even be cajoled into staying in place, it is not a secure fit and is probably asking for a nasty spill inside your pen.

However, non MB converters that rely on rubber seals rather than threads to stay firmly in place may be a fine substitute. I plan to test this notion this evening using the converter from my husband's Faber-Castell and will report back!

Wonderful pen!

I should have bought one a few days ago in Geneva ... back in Germany it is not available yet so I'll have to wait :(

Enjoy yours

Michael

Ironic isn't it, that a German pen company doesn't release things first in Germany; I'm sure a logical reason exists, but that made me chuckle

and the pen is stunning isn't it?

Patience is a virtue when waiting for the right pen... although I do just always seem to miss them

Beautiful. I like the quartz star and reminds me of the MoP.

If only it came in 146 size.......

Many thanks! Wonderful pics!

Success! Other standard converters using rubber seals rather than threads, such as those used by Faber-Castell, fit and function without issue. The fit is not overly snug, and I'm sure if you dropped the pen, the converter could potentially slip off of the section (I hope I'm using that term correctly). If you drop your Tribute, though, I'm sure you'll have bigger concerns than whether or not the converter is still in place.

I'm running out to ArtLite to buy a Faber-Castell converter tonight since the hubby didn't seem to like the idea of his being re-allocated. :P

I know the use of a converter was a big turn-off to some folks interested in this pen, so hopefully this helps!

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
